• RE: Is your workplace pro-family?

When I was about 7-8 wks pregnant with DD1, and my boss asked me to take a 2 wk business trip to Honolulu and Chicago. But I said no.

My boss said to me \"do you think pregnant dont need to eat\"
Huh? He meant \"pregnant must also work\".

But I didnt go...in the end, 911 happened! Everyone was struck there with little food for extra 4-5 days and no flight out of Hawaii. I went to Temple and prayed :thankyou:

    • RE: Australia in December

I agree. Nov is still good for Gold Coast.

Melbourne should go in June holidays so that can bring the kids to MT Buller for the snow. Super enjoyed our 4D3N stay at MT Buller!

Sarcha ,it must be really fun having such a big family gathering where EVERYONE looks forward to it.

Now I am not sure if it is EVERYONE..... :imcool:

For growing old together, I am very scared of being the last one standing with 22 kids. DH is 8 yrs older. Eldest BIL is 21 yrs older......I am the youngest DIL.

I worry about having to go through 20+ funerals and then having to grieve all of them. DH thinks I am being silly n emo here.

DH once said \" at least after a few times, you will know what to do (to prepare the wake) \" 😢

He also said \"finally you can sit the red table!\" :scared: meaning as each IN-LAW finally passes away, it will soon be my turn to sit at the red table during wedding dinners of our 22 kids's children. So lame, my DH.

Hello Funz, 30+ people is a big group too! You are really good if you can coordinate 30+ people to agree on a single itinerary.

Actually I dont split my time between our parents, I prefer to go to my MIL house šŸ˜‰ My parents are very understanding. Dinner events are planned accordingly to DH family's schedule. Thats why I always tell DH he is very LUCKY to marry me because I have high EQ. :rotflmao:

I asked my one and only 15 year old child/son whether he will take care of and live with me if I am alone. He says see how and what his wife says!!!! My dh says he's too young and i should not be bothered by the answer!

Finally got a chance to ask DD2 6 YO if we can stay with her next time when we are old.

Her reply \"wow you want to be my neighbor?\"

Goodness....only 6 and already didnt want me to be in the same room as her LOL šŸ˜“

That leads me to think, one day, it will be our turn...a full cycle of life... but with a big family, many hands lighten the load.

I hope your MIL is feeling better now.

It is so true many hands lighten the load. In a family of 13 children, there is always someone free to bring my MIL out for dinner, check up or to pay for a new fridge, new TV or washing machine etc.

So are you going to have more kids now? :rotflmao:
I used to prefer tuition centre. If your kids are idependent and smart, then tuition centre will work. Kids will get exposure to different types of materials and worksheets. But if your kid like DD1 needs more attention, small group home-based tuition works for her. We will be able to call the tutor directly when we want to know DD1's progress or if we have any question on Maths problem, we can text or call the home-based tutor. We cant do that with Tuition centre tutors, there is hardly any interaction at all.

i interact very much with the tuition center tutors too... i'm that kind that will ask them questions when i fetch my dc... like \"how is she?\", \"do u think he improve?\" that kind...

the tutor is very approachable and gives constructive feedback...

was at 1 of the center in bugis, wah the tutor everytime tell me \"good\", \"ok\", these feedback i dun feel constructive enough and so i withdraw not long after...

same thing for me... i am not shy to ask the teachers at the tuition centre how my kids are doing. thankfully, the teacher my kids are with is v nice. i can whatsapp her and she replies quite quickly. i like this type. commited to their work and you can get the feeling they genuinely care for my kid's wellbeing!
Hi Hi!

These tuition centres - is it for Maths/Science subjects? Or Languages EL/CL? DD1 has tuition for EL/CL only. DH teaches her for Maths/Science himself.

So for languages, its a bit difficult to ask the teachers besides getting some feedbacks like \"watch your tenses\"etc.

Anyway, as I am only new to KSP last month, I am very motivated after reading so many posts. Next yr for P5, we will spend more time with DD1 coaching her :boogie: Hope she survives our boot camp !

    • RE: Reasons to ask your maid to leave

If I have time soon, I will write about what she did during the 10 weeks with me - she was a terror.

She is from Philippines. When she was in jail, my office colleagues from Philippines got in touch with their embassy and they went to visit her all the crap. Said I shld give her a 2nd chance. Now she cant work in Spore anymore. HELLO EXCUSE ME! SHE GOT KNIVES YOU KNOW!

My 2nd Indo maid - I showed her a picture of my 1st maid in handcuffs at police station. I told her this is what happened when you steal from me. :yikes:

Of course maids are usually full of nonsense. To work for me - only request no handphone no boyfriend. We choose to treat her as family even after our 1st maid experience.

2nd maid knows we are not stingy with her. 6 yrs with me - she had been home 4 times w all expenses paid/full pay. Sometimes we must close 1 eye.

She has Indo maid friends from Katong, Jurong and Pasir Ris etc but we are in Hougang! I just listen to her gossips and smile. They need to relax too. I give her every Sunday off because I also need a break from her.

    • RE: Reasons to ask your maid to leave

Maid stole the knives from her ex-employer! She hid them in the compartment on the side of luggage. I didnt know how to handle maid I didnt even check her things. Thou we should give her some privacy. :stupid:

We were also busy with DD2, she was a preemie, cant drink milk properly without turning grey in the face.

Luckily my 2nd maid is good and we have her for 6 yrs now. So thankful to my 2nd maid. I like to think we have a good working relationship  .
