The tips on visiting Paris by staying in Chantilly and catching the train to save money inspired me to share this tip when visiting Portugal. Choosing off-peak time to visit such as during Spring and Autumn offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Steering clear of large events, which sometimes causes prices to go up. I also take time in reading blogs and watching videos on YouTube for travel tips in how to avoid tourist traps, saving money. If you’re going to travel for a few days in Lisbon, getting the Lisboa Card provides either free or reduced admission to the majority of Lisbon’s attractions. The card also offers unlimited rides on public transport within Lisbon with an added bonus of 10% to 70% on accommodation in Lisbon https://www.lisbonportugaltourism.com/lisboa-card.html. Another bonus of this card is that trains from to Cascais and Sintra are also free.
What’s your take on hiring a local guide when traveling to a new country? It will cost more than exploring on your own, but you’ll save time, get insider information, avoid the boring stuff, and you’ll feel safe. Still unsure if hiring a local guide is for you? Recovering Google account is also hard these days. I also used yahoo and Gmail in the past, but the one I am currently using is ProtonMail which also comes with a free Proton Pass for those like me that forgets password easily.

RE: 25th anniversary ideas
Congratulations on your 25th anniversary. Do you have a fixed plan already where the trip would be, @jacsplace? There’s this place in the Philippines called El Nido located in the Palawan province. It was super nice and relaxing. But if you fancy something out-of-the-ordinary, I would suggest Caramoan Islands.

RE: ME TIME!
I also use airtight containers for sugar, Milo, coffee, etc. and put them in cabinets away from sunlight. I’ve also experienced having weevils in rice, so I also put them on airtight containers.

RE: Do your kids play online game?
ChiefKiasu\" post_id=\"2122719\" time=\"1700140151\" user_id=\"3:
Totally agree! Kids are surprisingly tech-savvy, and monitoring can be a full-time job in itself. I also have a friend whose kid taught her how to use ChatGPT, and while she was initially impressed, she was worried that might limit her kid's ability to think on their own.
It's best not to give any mobile phone at all to the kids until they are in Secondary school. Going by 30min or 1hour does not work as it requires parents to be aware of the time the kids spent on the phone and we are usually too busy to follow up. Unless there are features in the phone to auto lockup after 30mins... but believe me, they will find some way to bypass the restriction. Don't worry that they will be left out of the digital race... I have a friend whose kid has no access to a mobile and has to use her mum's phone occasionally and boy, her deft use of that phone was impressive to me! -
RE: Cheap tablets with long battery life (Recommend)
If you can get a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 for SG$150, that would be the best. I browse through refurbished or renewed tablets on Amazon, also during Black Friday sale.

RE: Do you believe in fate?
I feel uncertain about the concept of fate. My wife strongly believes in it, and I hold her viewpoint in regard. I suppose I have some belief in destiny, but not as deeply as she holds that conviction.

RE: Travel: Japan - General

I can relate to your complaint. I stayed in Japanese apartments twice, and the stairs were so narrow and steep. Maybe it’s to save space or something. But I still enjoyed my stay in Japan.

My only complain on Jap apartments is the staircases inside are steep . I couldn’t go up and down comfortably without holding onto the hand rail -
RE: Which Country Suitable For Young Children?
As a parent traveling with a kid in the Czech Republic, we found plenty of engaging museums and attractions. One standout was the Museum of Bricks, housing the world’s largest private Lego collection. Another hit was Cibien’s Corner games museum, packed with retro arcade cabinets, consoles and PCs to enjoy. The Museum of Fantastic Illusions provided photographic fun with decorations playing tricks on the eye. The Czech Republic offered us memorable experiences through interactive exhibits, photogenic landmarks and scenic landscapes that will spark our child’s curiosity for years to come.
