sall:
Hi sesame, it's not wise to just leave the gap there, the neighbouring teeth will shift to take up the space, and in future, your teeth may not be perfectly aligned. It's best to do it asap after extraction, when the wound after extraction has completely healed. If you wait too long, you may lose some bone mass (something like that). Better not watch the procedure on youtube, it's so bloody and scary.

I think mine should cost more than what I mentioned earlier, I haven't paid the whole sum, can pay part of it thru medisave.
As for my dentist, he's done a lot of implant before and he did my extraction too. It was a good job done and I'm very comfortable with him even though he's not a specialist.
Tks for sharing, Sall.

Finally I hv done my implant 2 wks ago. I was surprised that it is such a simple procedure - all over within 20 min. Though i know the dentist is doing some drilling, i did not feel the pain. I dont remember seeing is any blood too. No down time, I took my dinner about 2 hrs later. I was given painkillers but never hv to take them.

a week before the implant, my dentist sent me to a specialist to do a root canal to treat the tooth beside the implant tooth. That procedure was quite terrible, it took abt 1.5 hrs.

Hi jedamum, the cost is much cheaper than the specialist. Specialist charge will be about 4K. My dentist is not a specialist, so I paid much less, should be in total about 2.8K. 😄

wow..that's cheap! But were'nt you worried that it was not done by a specialist?

I hv my upper molar extracted 1.5 mths ago and the dentist suggested implant. I am still thinking abt it as it seems so bloody - i watch from youtube.

what is the ideal interval between tooth extraction and implant? also is it ok to just leave the gap there without doing anything?

my dentist quoted me $4.8k which I think is expensive, it is a clinic under Q&M. I am thinking if it is safer to do it at the hospital instead where generally they hv better equipment.

Can anyone pls advise?

Thanks!

• IP Maths tuition at learning lab?

hi,

My S1 daughter did not do well in her Maths and I am considering sending her for tuition.

However there are hardly any centres that offers tuition for IP maths as each school has different syllabus. I hv only managed to find out Just edu and Learning lab.

Anyone can share their experience with LL? Their fees are very expensive…

Thanks.

Anyone using Sensodyne® ProNamel?

...supposed to have gentle teeth whitening effect.
is it good?
cannot find it at Guardian though

http://www.pronamel.us/Why.aspx
I am using it, recommended by my dentist for senstive teeth. They are available at NTUC.

I am looking at the tube now and it reads \" helps protect against acid erosion. Specifically formulated for people with sensitive teeth\".
nothing on whitening....
Sadly, not everyone is suitable for Lasik. While my mum went for it 2 years back, I am unable to go for it due to thin corneas. The next best thing would be artificial implants which would cost $4k per eye.

I am also thinking of artificial implants - its reversible !

Mrswongtuition, how old is yr mum? any difficulty with the lao hua part after lasik?

Read an article in the papers recently abt this lady who has the right eye corrected by lasik and the left one by implant. the result of implant is better. Disadv is that it carries higher risk of infection.

btw, anyone has done implants and care to share?

thanks!

My mum did it when she was in her early 50s.
She had no probs with lao hua.

Only prob is that she has diabetes, so it's giving her other eye problems (cataract). In fact, she's now with TTSH to follow up on the cataract and the doctors suggested implants for her - at subsidized rates cos it's a medical necessity, not an aesthetic reason.

My friend has done implants and she told me that when she gets sore eyes, she must quickly go back to see the doc for antibiotic eye drops. Seems quite scary. The price is also another factor that I'm holding back. 8K for perfect eyesight so that I need not wear glasses? I rather save it for my son :P
Thanks for sharing 🙂 Implant is relatively new...hope price will go down sooner.

I hv booked an evaluation appt 2 wks from now after attending the talk yesterday. Will see what the doctor suggest. I am so sick of the discomfort with contact lens (and also not cheap wearing disposal lens) and really hope lasik can help. Just worry abt the lao hua part.
