Hi Adrianteokt, I think there isn't really a 'bad school' in Spore. Just that Guangyang happens to be in Bishan and is over-shadowed by schools such as Catholic H, AiTong and KCPP. Parents staying around this area also tend to prefer trying for schools such as St Nic & Anderson or other schools around AMK that has been producing better PSLE results. As such, the take up rate of this school is usually not high in the first few phases.


But if you really want your kid to get into CH, AT - you will need to move within 1km, do PV for a better chance of securing a place. Good luck

Ever since DH taught our 4 yo boy how to dial his mobile, he has been calling his dad almost everyday with the slightest update. Last Sat while the kids were at my in-law's place, he called his dad on his mobile again and when i took over the phone, he said \"I want to tell you something mummy....I love you mummy.\" Enough to put a grin on my face the whole weekend.


My P1 gal will still ask for a kiss at the entrace of her school everyday when i send her there. I know this will stop eventually...so enjoying all these while i can :lol:

My dd is in P1 and has a similar relief chinese teacher who yells at the kids everyday since term 1. Her recent punishment for the P1 students (for talking in class) includes making the student stand in front of the class with arms stretched up high in the air with the palms together. I felt disgusted when my gal told me about the punishment, although it was not on her. This is in my opinion, more of humiliating the child more than anything else. This teacher is by the way past her retirement.


Quite a number of students in the class have commented that they hate Chinese lessons and the main reason is bcoz of this teacher. I have this urge to be a kaypo and highlight this to the principal (heard fm another parent it is pointless talking to the form teacher) coz i really feel for the poor kids who have been humiliated by her. What is holding me back is that she is ok to my gal so far. Will i be too much of a kaypo to do so? :?

the dates of tingxie and spelling are stated on the spelling sheets so that is not a problem. But no notification on test dates. My dd came back from school today and told me they were given Maths test today. No idea if it is a CA1 test or an informal test???


Basically, communications from this school is quite bad. Received a letter last month, informing us we have to purchase a personal oral thermometer for temperature taking. Bought her a new one to bring to school. Few days later dd brought it home. The letter given was meant for P2s. All P1s are given a free thermometer. :x

Does other schools have Meet-The-Parents sessions - esp for P1? How do you get feedback or updates about your kids’ performance or other issues?

Hi, my dd entered P1 this year and till now, there isn’t such a session arranged. The other parents from her kindergarten, whose kids are now in diff primary schools have attended or at least have been invited for a Parents-Meet-Teachers session for this term. Is it a norm not to have such sessions? How would we get feedback on how our kids are adapting into their new schools?

Did so much just to get into the school (PV, moved house)…but feeling quite disappointed now. The only notes she comes home with (school made them purchase a diary) is always - "bring money to buy file.", "Bring money to buy this and that."

For those getting your new maid (or transfer maid) from the agency, I would like to advise that you check if she has head lice. To be on the safe side, buy a bottle of treatment liquid from the pharmacy and make her wash her hair with that for the first few days. My new maid requested for a new pillow and i realised that she finished using the bottle of insecticide within a week. She told me she suspect that the previous maid had head lice and it was a very common problem at the agency as all the maids sleep together in a small room that the agency rented. It was then that I realised how my dd may have gotten head lice some months back when the previous maid joined us. I thought she got it from her friend in school as none of us (fortunately) had it.

Just visited their showroom at Forum today. Crosscom bags cost between $230-280. cant comment on anything else as have not used it before


But i need feedback regarding their table and chair though. The set of table, chair and table light cost $3600 and waiting time is at least 16 weeks if the order is placed today. Any comments from anyone who owns a set if this is worth investing in??
