If you are generally looking at their manners and attitudes I believe that NBPS do have majority of them on the respectful side. I think maybe for the school to achieve CD, they have to have a certain plan and process in place to apply for it which are not disclosed to me obviously haha. Nevertheless, the school culture has always been like that thus the management team might have taken this area for granted since the students are already well adapted to be respectful to teachers. They are still isolated cases with regards to them misbehaving outside school but i am sure all schools will have a chance of having students like that. What is important is whether they learn from their mistakes though.

The internal processes in school are not made clear to me so this is just my personal opinion of it so hope it helps though.

ICT programs are programs that make use of technology during lessons. They are rather integrated into the lesson to make it more engaging.

by the way i will try and feed back certain matters to NBPS as well.

I sincerely believe that no child should be left behind which is why NBPS left a deep impression on me with their strong character programs and culture.
Anyway, I do know all parents want the best for your children but like i said, the best might not be the best for your child. Hope my 2 cents worth will make your decision a little easier sometimes

hi all, done a quick check regarding certain matters brought up by parents.

I think character building programs in NBPS are strong so students there are able to distinguish right from wrong better which will also put in place their desire and objective to study. P6 academics are emphasized by the fact that there are lots of ict integrated programs for students to be more self-directed instead of being over-reliant on teachers. All that's done benefits children in the long run as we can see from results in the past 3 years.

Well that's from my friend in there. They have also gotten quite a number of transfer students from chongfu and northland as well.

Hi all, i am new to this forum


I am checking out options for my 2 girls - either home tuition or tuition centre. My girls currently attend the after school program at their school but we have found that homework is still incomplete and sometimes not even done properly.

We are mainly looking for basic supervision, i.e. that homework gets done, and that what is taught in school is reinforced so that the girls get the fundamentals. Any extra is a bonus. However, would prefer teachers or NIE trained tutor.

What is usually covered at tuition centres? Someone had mentioned Patsons to us but we couldn't find much about it online. Any input? thanks!!

I have fellow colleagues who give 1-1 tuition and some of those who teaches at a tuition center.I will just add some inputs for you from my experience.

In a tuition center, it is a class- based setting with at least 2-3 students to open/make a class. Teachers will be allocated to these classes and be given materials to do and revise on. The students can clarify anything at any point of time and do as a group as well. This teacher will normally act as a facilitator. In a better scenario, you might meet a teacher that is willing to go into various groups and explain anything doubts that they might have. This is important as what matters most is the type of students tuition center accept is basically anyone that pays. Thus the ability range can be widely varied. IF the teacher in there is attentive or experienced enough, they might be able to allocate them in a more beneficial way in order for them to learn properly from peers. Group work/collaborative learning can be a very important skill to learn in this instance.

In 1-1 tuition based, the tutors are given more time and space to work out their schedule based on the children's ability. They can devote more attention and care to the student's work as well. Do not just blindly follow reputation ranking and all as you should find a tutor that suits your child's needs. High sought after tutors might have already too many kids for themselves to handle and might not have enough in depth planning and target setting for your child as well unless they are really professional xD
Some tutors can never teach high ability child/ some can never teach children of a lower ability.

There are always pros and cons in whatever decisions made.Got to find a balance somehow ( that is the headache for parents to deal with)

hey all. my friend was so proud to tell me that 2 of their students who took part in the prestigious raffles maths world competition did really well.

they got a p4 getting distinction in round 2 of the competition and a p6 getting high distinction in the competition. Just thought i should share since well you know its approaching their open house and they hope i can lend some help since they are aware that i am on this forum xD
