    • RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Does anyone knows why it takes 8 weeks to release the PSLE results?

The PSLE is already brought forward by a week for this year. Marking 4 days (say a week). Sending the scripts to HQ and redistributing back to school give them 1 week. Moderations and putting it into bell curve (can be computerised) - give them 3 days.
      All in all 3 weeks.

It could be more efficient and give sec schools more time to do open house and parents/students more time to think through (after getting the actual results). After all, the students will be spending 4 to 5 yrs of their life in the new school. They are only given 7 days to consider…

      Zest fully:

I have a pretty good idea which is the preferred school if my child's COP is from 230 onwards.

Can anyone advice me which are the better schools if my child's COP is in the following range? Would really really appreciate your truthful advise. Thank you.

      1. 210 -215
      2. 215 -220
      3. 220 -225
      4. 225 -230

any students or parents from jurong east area travels to GESS? How long does it take to travel there in the morning?

How long does it take to walk from mrt to school?

seems like a gd school as the ‘o’ level aggregate GESS is producing is getting better these 2 years.

    • RE: Rough gauge of PSLE grades to get into Express Stream

      Angel2005:
      Hi,

I know the aggregate score is the main criteria secondary schools use to admit students, but can anyone tell me roughly if it's all As or a combination of As and Bs that will probably propel a child into Express Stream?
My daughter's grades have dropped dramatically since P5, and 3 of her subjects are in the 60s range while she has been failing Maths. If she does the same for PSLE, will that mean she will probably enter the Normal Stream? Am very worried for her self-esteem.
I think many kids tend to drop their marks in P5 as the difference in standard from P4 and p5 is too great. P5 is already covering some of p6 and they can hardly cope.

My son is in psle this year and he had a huge drop in p5. each subject drop about 15 -20 marks. from 80s.
in p6, he is back to 70s.

Please enlighten me here… out of touch with the secondary school system since my own…

Qn1) If a student gets eg. 240, it’s an Express for sure and there is no option for student to choose normal, right?
Qn2) If student gets 180, it’s Normal for sure, right?
Qn3) What is range for those who can choose Express or Normal ( somewhere around 188 to 200)???
