    • RE: how to get your kids interested in math? please share

      tisha:
Try to start with an assessment book that is not too challenging. Let the child taste success. That way the child feels motivated to do better.

It is very discouraging for a child to see a lot of cross marks (wrong answers).
Longman Exam - My Exam Companion Maths is a good place to start. It is relatively easily with a few tough questions. It also has a diagnostic table which helps to identify which topic the child is weak in.
Tuitions are supplementary. Parents need to spend one-to-one time to help overcome the child’s weakness.
      Good Luck.
I agree that u can try to let yr child 'taste' success as a form of motivation. My SIL DD also failed p5. Later she took tuition and then got A fr PSLE. so dont give up.

Another good book is Problem Solving Processes by Fabian NG.

Believe now many Ah Long (us) would go after Jeremy for papers!

There are some locations that are selling these papers. If you prefer to pick up rather than wait for Jeremy's delivery, can try at Thomson Plaza, Hougang Mall or Toa Payoh Central (opposite HDB hub, look out for corner store seling test paper on the row near KFC). Hope this helps.

      Thanks Pen for sharing.

Is ok as we still have some 2010 years paper to clear and also review through those CL comp. that dd had written this two years. 😂[/quote]Its better to do 2011 current year papers as it better reflects the trend of PSLE

    • RE: How do you maintain your relationship with your spouse?

It hard to juggle between kids + dh + a full time job + managing household (even with maid, maid usually not on "AUTO" mode one!)

For myself, I have young children and I work full time.

Sex - Hiaz… I think we have reached an age where its not longer spontaneous so DH and I would try to make it every say Wednesday nite … LOL… Most of the time we skip cos too tired but at least one or twice sucessful (must get all kids in bed first! stress!)

We also try to take half days off work to go spa or just go and have lunch…

Its important not to neglect our DH as well.

And more important must take cate of ourselves.

    • RE: Do we need to use modelling to solve all math problem sums?

      I have a p4 and p1 child…

While I agree that many problem sums can be solved without model drawing, I would say that drawing models is a good habit … start from P1. Learn basics and then can practice.

Then when they go to upper primary - they already know how to make use of basic models to solve problem sums which are more complex.
