Are you within 1 km? If yes, chances of getting into Beacon should be fairly high. It might be a good idea to call the school directly to ask for a breakdown.

KK Children’s Hospital has specially trained opticians for very young children. You can’t just walk into any optician shop. They can only make the glasses based on the prescription from a specialist.


My daughter was first diagnosed by the ‘mobile nurses’ who went to her preschool. She was then referred to a polyclinic which then referred her to a hospital, eg, NUH.

Recently, a slew of changes were introduced in my child’s childcare centre. Among which is the requirement to provide a fresh set of mattress cover, blanket, pillow cover daily. May I know if this is also practiced in other childcare centres?

It happened to mine too. She’d fall sick every month. Sick for a week, lose appetite for 2 weeks, well for another 2 and then ill again. Its so frequent that our family physician suggested the flu vaccine. Seems to work for frequency has reduced significantly.

You sure are ahead of time! I wish I had come across this website earlier. Really gives me a dose of reality on how competitive and challenging it is to enrol into primary school.

And yes, there are many myths about priority registration if you are an ex-girl. Some even said being an ex-student of IJ Secondary will entitle you to register at phase 2A. But it is NOT true!! Checked with the alumini and principals already.

If you're think of registering your girl under phase 2A (ex-student), you only have prioity at the primary school that you attended, ie, CHIJ Katong. Even joining the almuni would not entitle you to register at any other IJs at phase 2A. Btw, deadline for phase 2A is over for this year.
