    • RE: Maths Assessment Books

Hi all! Besides assessment books, I'm sure many of us parents use past year papers to prepare our kids for the exams. We've put together a simple report here for everyone's knowledge. We evaluated past year 2014 Math papers from the top primary schools to give everyone a quick overview of the various papers out there so you know where to focus your kid's valuable time on. Check it out here:

I'd love to hear your thoughts about how we reviewed the papers so that we can improve.

      Thanks!

    • RE: Get ready for SA1 and download 2014 SA1 Papers on Tutate!

      Hi parents!

We've been hard at work over the last year developing an iPad app that will allow parents to save time and effort when it comes to purchasing assessment books.

Tutate is an iPad app that allows you as a parent to purchase assessment books right from your iPad. No more getting stuck in traffic jams, or circling the carpark looking for an empty slot just to end up at a long queue outside the bookstore.

Here's a sneak peek of what the app looks like:

      http://i61.tinypic.com/24gn9jc.png\">

We've partnered with Shing Lee Publishers and Singapore Asia Publishers (2 of Singapore's top publishers) to bring you digital versions of their popular series like the Conquer Series from SAP and Challenge your Brain Series from Shing Lee.

Your child can work on these assessment books and after they are done, their results are automatically marked (saving you plenty of time!). The results are then analysed and a report that shows your child's strengths and weaknesses will be sent to you.

We want to help you prepare your child for the upcoming SA1 examinations and we've made available 2014 SA1 Papers for you to download for FREE!

You can download the app here: http://bit.ly/downloadTutate

We hope you'll check it out and let us know what you think!

    • RE: Dedicated YouTube app for kids-Good for parents! (Tutorial)

I personally don't think limiting the access to the world wide web is a good thing. Times are changing and information is flowing so freely and quickly that anyone who does not have access is at a severe disadvantage. IMHO, of course.

There are ways to restrict access to specific apps on an iPad though. You can check this link out if you're interested 🙂 Hope that helps!

    • RE: iPad games that pri sch kids play these days

Here are some educational apps that we recommend to parents who want to expose their children to fun, yet educational games on the iPad 🙂

Elevate - http://elevateapp.com/ - A brain training app that uses games/quizzes/puzzles to sharpen brainpower - This was recommended to us by a VP in Temasek Secondary School

      An alternative to Elevate
      Lumosity - https://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/lumosit ... 32024?mt=8 - Also a brain training app that uses games/quizzes/puzzles to sharpen brainpower

      Hope that helps!

    • RE: Is this Singapore's 1st Gay Youtube Channel?

Family communication is definitely the best way to go about and ensure your children are protected from negative influences like these.

Alternatively, YouTube has just released an app specifically for kids. They carefully curate the content providers, and they have things like time locks, and the best part, there are NO ADS!

Go check it out on your respective app stores.

If you're on an iOS device and try downloading it, you'll most probably not be able to find it because it is restricted to the United States only. BUT, there are ways to work around it. We've prepared a simple tutorial to help parents with the download. You can check it out here:

    • RE: help in create a iapple acct

      Hi raysusan,

Yes, you can. One way is following the instructions in the guide that was shared by kychua.

Alternatively, you could just insert your credit card details to create the account.

Once you’ve set up the account, head on over to "Settings".

In "Settings", scroll down till you see "iTunes & Apple Store" and select that.

Tap the Apple ID and select "View Apple ID".

Sign in with your credentials and tap on "Payment Credentials".

The "None" option should be available under "Payment Options" now.

      Tap "None" and click "Done".

Voila! No more credit card attached to your iTunes account.

      Hope that helps!

    • RE: Dedicated YouTube app for kids-Good for parents! (Tutorial)

      Hi everyone,

We just wanted to share that YouTube has recently launched an app that's dedicated to kids. They have curated specific channels from a list of pretty impressive content providers that are targeted at kids. It also has a child lock so you can set a fixed amount of time that your child can watch YouTube.

More importantly, there are NO ADS! How cool is that? Go check it out on your respective app stores.

Here's a tip for those trying to download the app on iOS. The app is currently only available for download in the USA but there are workarounds. We've crafted a simple tutorial to help those of you who want to use the app in Singapore here:

P.s.: Moderators, I didn't really know where to share this so I chose the forum that was most related. If you need to move it to the relevant section, please go ahead. Thanks!

    • RE: iPad Air or Mini Retina

I’ll put in a vote for the iPad air. We’re using both to test out our Tutate app and the iPad Air with it’s bigger screen is a lot more useful! Doesn’t weigh more than an iPad mini as well.

      Bigger is better!

    • RE: free iPad apps you are using

      Hi there!

We’re developing a new app called Tutate that allows parents to purchase digital assessment books and let their children work on it via the tablet. We have a whole library of books from SAP and will be going to launch the app sometime in March. Are any of you interested in trying the app out before we launch it?

Drop me a PM and let me know!
