    • RE: Microwave or oven pizzas?

Just curious, any thoughts on the pizzas sold at the supermarkets? Nowadays, a lot of choices, some are microwave some oven baked. Seems fast and I tried a few, quite nice. Usually will add ham, cheese and other stuff.

Better than fast food, yes? No?

    • RE: any advice on iMac or macbook

I am surprised this post did not become 10 miles long! Usually questions about Mac get a lot of responses! πŸ™‚

For you kind of usage, ANY computer would do, actually. Dell has some nice computers in many colours if that is your fancy.

      For your questions:
      My questions :

      1. which would suit my needs ? search the web and seems that iMac seems more popular. Is the battery on macbook reliable ?
Ans: You are asking whether iMac or MacBook is better for you? That depends. Do you want to carry it around? Then u need a notebook type, which would be MacBook or the latest hoo-ha... MacBook Air.
Battery life is good for Macs, but make sure you double check against what you need. Slim looking beauties usually have shorter batter life.

      2. is there any free workshop for new users to learn how to operate the mac ?
Ans: Ouch! That is a touchy question since most Mac advocates tell you that the Macs are designed such that you do not even need to think to use it! heh heh... check your neighbourhood CC. Usually they have Mac classes, or some other CC if the one near your home does not.

      3. what is iworks ? does the mac comes with simple spreadsheet and document program which i dont have to pay (iworks is not free right ?) in the event that i need to do some simple work ?
Ans: Depending on what you bought, most Macs should already have word processor, spreadsheet and so on... but again, best to double check against the specifications of what you buy. Macs are quite safe in the sense that no matter where you go, you get pretty much the same thing. Same specs, same high price. πŸ™‚ iWorks is a suite of applications. Most Mac users I know claim that life is not worth living if you don't have iWorks on your Mac. But then, I have a Mac, it dun have iWorks. heh heh...

      4. on the whole is mac easy to use ?
Ans: Yes. It used to be easier. But it is really easy to learn how to use if you are not going for the \"advanced\" stuff. If you are happy to be locked into the Mac world, then Mac + iPod + iPhone... perfect combination. WARNING: don't try to mix and match if you don't have a degree in rocket science. πŸ™‚

      Hope this helps

    • RE: A good read - DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?

I have been married 21 YEARS... we have been through a lot. All the \"stages\" actually. In the end, we both realised that we did love one another. It is when we got distracted by all the challenges in our daily lives, we lose sight of that, we stop talking and sharing. We begin to doubt the other person.

But in the end, when we take a deep breath, cast aside every problem bothering us and just spend some time together, the love remains. We just needed to get rid of the \"crusts\" that accumulated over the healings and the hurts... πŸ™‚

This is a very nice post, and I do agree with the author of the post. Falling in love is easy. But learning to really love takes a life time. I am still learning.

    • RE: Bad Teachers

There are several occupations that are really thankless:

      1. Nurses - get scolded by patients, relatives, doctors, colleagues and superiors
      2. Teachers - get criticized by parents, snubbed by students, belittled by superiors and ignored by MOE

I am sure there are other occupations that share similar hardships. All you need to do is:

      1. Spend a few weeks as a "relief teacher" to know what I am talking about (I did)
      2. Talk to a few parents who think that bringing up their kids is the responsibility of teachers
      3. Talk to "officials" who think that students and parents are "customers" instead of teachers as the venerated ones as in days long gone and you will see why schools have become what they are today

Sure, there are "bad" teachers. Some people can’t teach. Some people can’t relate well with others. But the fact that they put up with all the #$% above, just for that alone, they deserve their pay. πŸ˜›

Frankly, unless you are looking for something really unique, most photo studios can handle this as it is one of the most common requirements in Singapore! πŸ™‚

    • Daddy Warr: New here, but old parent...

Hi! I am new to Kiasuparents but I am not a new parent. I am so envious of you guys because when I first became a parent, Kiasuparents did not exist! It is good to see such a community up and running. :boogie:

I might not be too regular here since my son is in NS and my girl is taking her \"O-Levels\"; but as and when I can, I hope I can contribute from my own perspective and experience. :?
