RE: [Hougang/Punggol/Sengkang] Preschools
Hi parents,
I am moving to Serangoon area and am trying to find a good CC for my youngest- N1 this year. She used to be in a more play-based CC in bishan. I found that she was not learning much and not that disciplined. I am thinking of the following
- Pat’s Schoolhouse at Kovan
- Mindchamps at Punggol
- Treasurebox at Parry
- Elfa near Nex
May I know if anyone has visited these centres or has kids there, what are you thoughts?:)
Thank you in advance! -

RE: The Alternative Story (TAS) - Discussion
Hi jtn4,
I am interested but the timing does not work for me:( cos its near SA1 and I would need to prepare him for other subjects too…I am going to ask if they have such classes for June, if they have, would you consider June classes? -
RE: Improve the handwriting
Mine also, I made them redo if their writing was too bad when they were younger. Now still messy but at least legible.

RE: Invisible Grille
Oh why do you say do not change if I already have the aluminium grille? I thought invisible was nicer?

RE: All About English Creative Writing
He is ok, interested to learn tt’s why his teacher suggested moving him up a level. TAS does not really screen students but they will give you feedback if they feel your child can be further stretched or if they feel your child needs more help. I know that some of the students who struggle more in the beginning are given extra help, they come earlier or they join an extra class.
Sure will pm you. I understand how it is to try to find the right centre for your kid, hope it helps but also take note that there is no 100 percent guarantee kind of centre:) -
RE: All About English Creative Writing
My kids are 9 and 7. The 9 year old is a bit faster so he is in the p4 class. From what I see, the teacher will provide a model essay for a topic and the following topics are usually connected, I think it is to help the kids to apply what they have learnt.
The teacher will teach them how to vary their sentences, how to use more descriptive language and they will ask the kids to memorise parts of the compo and after a while, I find my kids can remember and apply those phrases to other compos. Now, for my older kid, they are teaching something called characterisation. His compos have similar characters and the teacher shows how to use the character to bring out the story.
I may not be too clear but whenever I talk to the teacher, I find that she has a clear structure. No copying of compos.
