I think whoever out there should stop bashing the parents (whose kids have a dsa co and now want to transfer) of being immoral. It all boils down to demand and supply. If a sch out there is willing to take in the dsaed pupils and with that the dsaed sch can then release the place to someone on the waiting list, I dun see why not. Stop acting like a saint! It is really no big deal. From what understand, these parents dun sign a contract,

RE: DSA Appeal 2011
There is for sure nothing on rgs website. As mentioned earlier, rgs has a separate form for dsa appeal cases. As for nags heard that their forms also has a section for dsa appeal cases.
Green tree, how is your appeal to Moe? Your child sent in the appeal form to the dream sch anyway? -
RE: DSA Appeal 2011
As with pepper spice , I also empathize with parentathome. As parents we want the best for our kids. There is really no right or wrong. I jus feel that this whole dsa thing has not been clearly communicated. It’s really true that many parents are caught off guard. We all know that a guideline is something we should follow but didn’t we were told to be flexible?
I have read v harsh comments here on how selfish those with dsa CO on hand now want to change their minds juz bec the kids PSLE score is now better. There is also those who equate such pupils as bond breaker? I think there is a difference. ppl who agreed to the bond signed on the dotted line w their eyes open as for dsa cases, I think it wasn’t stated in black n white. Also the fact that Ri, Rrgs and even NYGS (read somewhere in ks parents) entertained the dsa appeal upfront, it already shows that it may still b possible.
If someone decides to leave the dsaed sch, he or she is also doing a favour to those on waiting list. Isn’t it a win-win situation? It is not as if the released slot will b left vacant!
Parentathome, did your child put in an appeal form anyway? No harm trying.
I m curious how RI handle the dsa appeal cases. If after accepting $20 from all the dsa appeal parents they are not processing them, I will b v disappointed w such a top end school -
RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
My DS’s son’s friend with score of 260 appealed to RI and successful. I think they have sorted out the s1 posting appeal cases. The rest is probably the dsa appeal cases. Perhaps now Mrs Lim is talking to moe minister, mr heng!

RE: DSA Appeal 2011
I don’t think moe’s approval is required when sch approve the appeal cases esp for s1 posting cases. It is more like informing moe to update the records. There is time constraint for appeal cases, 1 more week and sch starts . If every appeal cases need moe approval , it will not happen . As mentioned earlier, our moe moves like a snail

RE: DSA Appeal 2011
I dont think rgs website states that dsa appeal must be approved by moe. This is not possible . We all know how efficient is our moe. The whole world is progressing but they heng tat ka ki

RE: DSA Appeal 2011
Rgs also has a supplementary intake form like RI. The only diff is that they have 1 form for s1 posting cases and another for dsa cases. For the latter , applicants have to indicate reasons for not honouring their commitments to their DSAed school, just a few liners.

RE: DSA Appeal 2011
I have been following this dsa thread very closely. Thot that RI and RGS are accepting appeals for pupils accepted via DSA in other schools? If this is not allowed by MOE, then why are these 2 schools blatantly accepting such appeals?
Anyone know of any successful dsa appeal cases?
Personally I think this newly enforced policy by Moe has not been clearly communicated to all the affected parents. Not many are aware of this -
RE: RI or HCI
My DS T score is 263. Still thinking between HCI or RI. Very big headache. Can someone help to ans some of the following qns?
1) What is the major diff b/w the 2 schools?
- in terms of culture, teachers, curriculum and pupils in general.
2) How the classes are split? ie according to PSLE score?
3) School fees? For those eligible for EESIS, is it for 6 yrs in both schools? If not, how they determine from 2nd yr onwards.
4) How do pupils choose their CCAs? And how many?
5) Is HCI very ‘Chinese’?
