Have some questions on oral communication (OC) and indep studies (IS)

1) How is OC to be tested. It comprises 40% oral participation (10% HC and 30% from any best 3 subjects) with remaining 60% from current affairs (30% each fm EL and CL). How are the 40% and 60% to be tested? Based on daily classroom participation or a formal oral test?
2) For Ace under IS, so far there seems to be only something given out to the pupils for HCI. Anybody’s ds has done something for ELL?
3) for computation of msg, there is total of 6 subjects of which at least 5 must come from exam subjects and the last can come fm non exam subjects?

DS said the trial dates calendar not correct one. He mentioned that he sent an email to someone (dunno teacher or senior), and was asked whether he plays any racquet game. After that, he was asked to go for the trial.

When I see him tonight, I will ask him for more details. And then tell you.

DS said that there was an announcement in the EMB about the squash trial happening on 25 Jan. So, he replied the message, and was asked to go for the trial.

Thanks for the update. Have not been logging in for some time. Yes my ds managed to attend the squash trial last week.

DS1 went for squash trial yesterday and was selected to join the team. We were quite shocked, because he has never played squash before. But then, only 6 pupils were there for the trial.....hee

Thought the squash trial was held last thursday and today (and not yesterday?)

My DS also wanted to go for the trial today. Not sure if he eventually got the time to go as he had 3rd lang today. He missed last thurs also bec of 3rd lang.

The calendar for the trial dates clearly indicates that the squash trials are on 2 Thurs. How did your DS know there's one yesterday?

My friend’s ds will be sec 1 in HCI next year. She is staying at Bt Medan area and is looking for bus transport to school. She called the bus co that currently ferries pupils to HCI. Unfortunately, they do not transport pupils from her area.


anyone staying in her area keen to take the transport? If there are sufficient pupils, the bus co will be able to provide The transportation

I don't think having a sister in the school plays a big role in an appeal. If anything, I'm thinking your giving up the Math test probably played a part in your rejection.

btw, which schools did you put as your 6 choices?

Agree. Am quite sure having a sibling doesnt help in appeal

DHS is 256
ACSI Is 255

My DS's classmate's mum called up HCI last week thinking of submitting the appeal. HCI informed that their cop is 259. In the end she did not appeal. Score is 255+2. posted to RV

Have 2 friends whose DSs’ appeal to HCI were unsuccessful . Scores are 255 +2 and 256+2. anyone here heard of successful appeal to HCI?
