    • RE: All About Full-Time Maids

      Just wanna share experience…

I just had a bad experience with this agency at orchard road "Super XXXXXXXXX Specialist"

We relied on them for info regarding maid on home leave (maid still under contract) but agency is not updated. Didnt know that maid need KTKLN. Indo Embassy (when we went to get tax endorsement) also didnt inform us. Maid is now in Indo, stuck and cannot come back. She went to airport but was stopped at custom. So maid decide not to come back. Maid also cannot be contacted.

Essentially I feel that the contract is useless. It doesnt protect any of the parties, even if it does, it does so mostly on the maid’s side. the contract has no real effect in any way. Maid run home, use what to sue her? hah… What about employers who unfortunately employs bad maids? then how? Employer abuse maid, we’ve heard lots, but maids that are irresponsible?

      So disheartening…

    • RE: Maid need SGD150 to pay for airport tax

      Hi junemum72,

Thanks for your reply… unfortunately, my agency is unreliable. to be frank, i called up this afternoon to check if they helped the maid with KTKLN application prior to her arrival, and i realised, to my utmost horror, they seemed CLUELESS about the KTKLN! Which i found unbelievable cos they are foremost maid agencies and they apparently have a good reputation! But apparently not… Not a very good agency despite their apparent reputation. But thanks for replying junemum72, truly appreciate it!

thought so too, thanks… cos i was reading in the other threads, maid that didnt want to come back told the employer that she will pay for the breach of contract, which left me wondering - how? and is it even possible. thanks for the reply anyway… and yes, we do still have some money we held back as a form of assurance.

      tankee:
      at least she called.

heard of cases the maid just did not return, wasted trip to airport, wasted reaction time to source for new one.

sounds like what just happened to my family. )):

    • RE: Maid need SGD150 to pay for airport tax

      Hi Yunzz,

was wondering if things got settled for you? How did you resolve this situation? I’m in a similar situation right now… except its related to KTKLN…

My grandma’s maid requested to go back (contract not up yet) to settle family issues. Her husband had an affair and wants a divorce. She has a 5 year old daughter and some minor properties so she wants to have it settled. We gave her 10 days and she was agreeable. She still has a part of her pay (SGD 130) with us as a form of assurance. She was still contactable right up till yesterday - we waited for her in the airport in vain, only to find out from Garuda airlines that she was denied entry at Semarang because she does not have her KTKLN and has to pay an approximate 750,000 rp (later i was told 500,000 rp) for it.

Am stranded and not sure what I should do…

    • Is maid expected to pay for the breach in contract?

Hoping someone can enlighten a blur sotong, me.

My grandma's maid went back on home leave with contract still in effect (only fulfilled 1 year) Was in the Semarang airport on her way back to SG when she met encountered problems with custom (no KTKLN and no money to apply/pay for card/insurance) and thus couldnt come back.

Now due to KTKLN problems, she seems reluctant to come back - cut of all communication with us.

Key question is... If she decides to stay in Indo, is she expected to pay for the breach in contract? How do we go about this?

We have never had such problems and this is the second maid we hired for my grandma. Agency is not helpful as for everything else, they would ask us to refer to embassy. The KTKLN fix is also indirectly due to agency's ill-informed information (they seemed clueless about KTKLN)

    • RE: Home leave for breaking conrtact

      Just to check,

Is maid expected to pay for the breach in contract?

My grandma’s maid went back on home leave even though her 2 years contract with us is not up (1 year only), and she met some problems with custom (no KTKLN and no money to apply for card) and thus couldnt come back. But the case now seems to be, she doesnt want to come back even though her contract with us is still in place.

Key question is… Is she expected to pay for the breach in contract?

    • RE: KTKLN for indo maid?

      Hi,

I just wanted to share my experience here and hopefully, anyone with similar experiences can share with me solutions.

My grandmother’s Indonesian maid is currently stuck in Indonesia because she doesnt have the money/does not (seem to) want to come back.

It’s pretty much the typical maid story - Maid requested to go back (contract not up yet) to settle family issues.

My mum called up the agency prior to maid leaving but we were never informed of KTKLN. In fact, I called up today to ask and check if they issued KTKLN for the maid and they seem clueless when asked about it! The lady i spoke kept insisting that it is not their responsibility said that we should have checked with embassy (which we did but were not informed as well!)

This is so frustrating for my family… Just wanted to share my experience here…
