Do you really need an extra bed? For my family, we usually request for King bed or twin bed (if the beds are super single). We never request for any extra bed. My kids now is 10 and 6 years old. In the past when my son was younger 4 years old and below, we used to ask for baby cot.Dino mummy:

For Pattaya I think on Van/bus.
You can take van/bus from Victory Monument or southern bus terminal.

I have never been to Hua Hin but I heard that that is a place where more locals go. I went to Pattaya before and it is very nice - I believe there is a Hilton there.
To travel to Pattaya you can also rent a van. The vans will cost you about 500 Baht a day I think. Pretty decent rate. Taking the bus will take longer and sometimes it is not as comfortable I hear. -

1. \tVans to Kanchanaburi cost 120 baht, leave once an hour, and take 2-3 hours.
2. the Tourist Train to Kanchanaburi which only operates at the weekend, this train runs from Hualamphong Station. This train is day trip allow you to stop at various station for sightseeing and return on the same trip. you see this blog for more info: http://www.my-rainforest-adventures.com/2010/11/taking-public-train-to-sai-yok-noi-waterfall-in-kanchanaburi-thailand-part-i/
then you click in the website for part 2, 3 and so on.
3. You can also take train from Thonburi train station. This is daily. See here for train schedule and info. http://www.seat61.com/Bridge-on-the-River-Kwai.htm. Train around 4hrs.
I have checked with various travel agents in Kanchanaburi and compared prices, i think Good Times Travel is the cheapest. you email them for packages. prices start from 790 thb per pax only. Child half price.
Some of the place of interest:
Sai Yok Noi waterfall, hellfire pass and memorail musuen, elephant riding, bamboo rafting, kra sae cave, deathrailway, bridge over river kwai, Hin Dad hot spring, Erawan national Park and etc.
You can also stay at the floating river resort. -
thks for the info happydl, will check this out

the tour that i booked is at Grand Diamond hotel lobby, cant recall the name, its the first shop (there are a few). let me know if you are keen, i go back and check the nos.
the iternary as follow:
0630-pick up from various hotel
0730-depart from BKKto River Kwai
0930-arrive at River Kwai and visit to War cemetery
10.00-visit the Jeath musume
10.30-visit the bride over the River Kwai
11.00-leave from the bridge and go to the elephant camp
12.00-elephant riding and bamboo rafting

Hi Chloecube,
Did your children enjoy the trip? I am going in June and canβt decide whether to bring them to Kanchanaburi or the crocodile/elephant show.
