        Hi, can someone help me with this fraction question, thanks!

        Ronald has 1/4 as many game cards as Terrence. If Terrence gives 117 game cards to Ronald, both of them will have an equal number of game cards. How many game cards must Terrence give to Ronald so that Ronald will have 5/8 as many game cards as Terrence?

          Hi,

          (1) R : T = U : 4U

          U + 117 = 4U - 117
          U = 78

          Total, 5U = 390

          (2) Ronald has 5/8 as many cards as Terrence or Ronald has 5/13 of the total cards

          5/13 x 390 = 150

          150 - 78 = 72

          Thus Terrence must give 72 cards to Ronald.

          Regards

              Tank A and tank B are identical. 5/6 of tank A and 1/4 of tank B are filled with water. The mass of tank B with its contents is 7/13 of the mass of tank A with it’s contents. The total mass of the two tanks with their contents is 1400g. Find the mass of the empty tank.

              Please help. Thanks

                Hi,

                Just like to point out that the 2nd scenario cannot be a continuous event from the 1st.

                Because they are already equal when Terence gave 117 to Ronald.
                So if Terence continued to give Ronald, Ronald would have more and not less than Terence.
                Hence, it starts from the beginning again.

                Hopefully the diagram helps.

                  Peter had 632 stamps and Freddy had 80 stamps. After their father had given them each an equal number of stamps, Peter had 5 times as many stamps as Freddy. How many stamps did their father give to each of them?

                      Please help on the following questions:-

                      1. Mr. Yong gave $840 of his salary to his mother and gave 1/5 of his remaining salary to his wife. If he had 1/3 of his salary left, how much was his salary?

                      2. Robert wanted to buy 12 erasers but he found that he was short of $0.80. If he bought 8 erasers, he would have $1.60 left over. How much money did Robert have?

                      3. There were 3/4 as many students in Camp A than in Camp B. After 25 pupils joined Camp B, the ratio of the number of students in Camp B to Camp A becomes 7:4. Find the number of students in Camp B at first.

                        Three team A,B&C participated in a competition. There were 34 pupils in team B & C. If 22 pupil were not in team B n 28 pupil were in team C,how many pupil were there altogether in the three teams?

                        22 pupils not in Team B means
                        Team A & C --> 22

                        28 pupils not in Team C means
                        Team A & B --> 28

                        Team B & C --> 34

                        Total number of pupils in Team A & B & C --> (22 + 28 + 34) / 2 = 42

                        cheers.

                        :thankyou:
