Will you consider shifting ? MGS is a very sought-after school. Not only that, it takes away the stress of PSLE since it is affiliated. If i were you, moving house is what i will do

Hi I actually shifted from the west to Tampines.. However my west side old place is far from MGS too.

I might just send her there still. it takes away the stress of balloting for places in P1 too.

Tough call for you there. If you give up the place at Phase 2a, you will also be denying a place for your future generations. On the flip side, bus pick up at 5.20 am is ridiculous unless you can send her by car or look around for car pooling. Your daughter will have to stay back for CCA at least once per week initially and then more often if she is in the school sports team or performing arts. The CCA bus does not ply beyond Queenstown area. Hence, you will have to make alternative arrangements to send her back home after CCAs. You could try your luck for St Hilda's though ballotting is confirmed. Consider other nearby schools and think of saving precious time travelling on the road.

True about the timing.. I recall in my school days there was a girl who stayed in Bedok & she got up super early to go to school..

That is possible too. My gal used to have a Kindergarten frenz who stays in Simei. 4 years back, she did the same too. I was told by the mum that she reached home at almost 820pm :yikes:

However, the mum thinks is fine as the child can rest on the bus. To each its own, i think. Just go with your gut feeling. Good luck

Definitely too early. @ 5:20 am, most of us are still in bed. Unless you can pick and send yourself, don't sacrifice her precious sleep time for commute. I'm an old girl too and stay in the East. I send/pick my DD up myself, it takes less than 30 mins to get to school via PIE in the morning. Traffic's not too bad, just the 10-min queue on Blackmore Dr to enter the school compound.

On CCA days and supplementary/remedial lessons, the CCA bus will not take your DD home. Some CCAs like GB ends at 6:30pm on Fridays, it means she will be home super late. Do consider very carefully.

My daughter is in MGS. I moved so that she could get into MGS. You have a priority admission that money cannot buy, for an education for your daughter in your alma mater, in arguably one of the top 5 primary schools in Singapore. Don’t waste it.

i can’t wait for my girl to study at MGS…she is only 2 this year , still got 4 more years to go before her P1 registration but i am already very excited !! MGS is my alma mater and i very much would love my girl to study there too. It would be so nice to see her wearing the same uniform which mommy had worn almost 25 years ago…We live at Kovan and my cousin lives at Pouggol, and she drives her daughter to school, so far didn’t hear any complaints from her about the distance…My cousin is an alumni of MGS ( me too) and yet she rented a place near MGS to enhance her chance to get into the school, lol


I intend to let my boy study at Nan Chiau Pri which is also my alma mater and i know many friends will ask why don’t i let my girl study at NCPS too ? Frankly speaking, i really can’t give up the opportunity to let my girl study at MGS, really its a great school…i am sure my girl will turn out a fine young lady in the future…

Hi mummies, just want to check when the bukit timah area floods, is the junction at bukit timah Rd and Blackmore dr affected? Any problems fetching your daughter to and from school should flooding occur?

No flooding since I moved here (just next to that junction). Anyway, there is an alternate route to MGS via Old Holland Road that you can also use.
