      According to the above article, his internship at the company was only for 6 months. $500 per month for internship is normal. But what I don't understand is why he chose to continue working at the company, drawing this ridiculously miserable $500 for subsequent 2.5 years! There is no employment contract drawn out, he has no bonus and NO annual leave.

      and his parents said he usually work from 9am-11pm and under a lot of stress and worry about his job :yikes:

        Didn’t any of his parents ask him to leave? Did they care for him? Such long hours for peanuts!!!

          It's really a BIG question mark here...WHY did this intern work for this pathetic amount for so long? This kind of daily stress for $500? Didn't his parents know what he had been going through? They kept quiet and let their son endure this? He can't be staying on for the money right? Now after this incident, they asked for $100K. After 6 months, he definitely could leave...no other company to work in? Sitting down and being abused verbally and physically? :? :?

            Too little is known or revealed for the general public to make a fair and sound judgement.

              Maybe the parents need to go to court to get details revealed. But if the parents don't like what they hear, can they then storm out of court? :scratchhead:

                Isn't it sad that the parents can't get the truth from their own son?

                      Isn't it sad to have to go to court to hear from a person who is still alive?

                        Quite a few things don't seem to click in this story:

                        - an undergrad tolerating a meagre pay for such a long time;
                        - parents having to stand up for a 29-yo adult;
                        - the victim clearly not defending himself upon being hit.
                        - ...

                        I agree that there is too little for anyone to assess the full situation.
