the first 2 days can be so heavy that it feels ‘numb’ if i stand long.

if i can, i don’t mind staying in the toilet…the clots feel yucky as it can be sudden. after the 3rd day, i feel much better…at least the cramps and backache is not so bad.

I don’t get cramps. But I get heavy periods, with clots, which takes much longer to clear since after my D&C 5 years ago. I detest the ‘gushing out’ feel on the first 2/3days. It takes about 8 days to clear out.

Prior to the D&C, my period lasted only about 4-5days and I had to only use the regular pads. Nowadays, it’s always the super long ones… 35cm!!

i thought after that D&C procedure, the clots should have cleared :?
yes...you said it...that gushing out feel is so yucky...esp just after changing to a clean pad. i have to use night ones during the day for the first 4 days...for the first 2 nights, have to wake up at 2am to change again.

i use the 41 cms one! yes i hate the gushing out feeling and sometimes will immediately overflow and stained. I had to standby panty, shorts and pads in the bathroom for the 2nd - 4th day cos when i wake up in the morning or at night when i pee, stand up...seems like whole bucket of blood and clots suddenly gushed out. :imdrowning:

But hardly see the 41cm ones, so I usually buy the 35cm.

When I first started on the 35/41cm ones, I was wondering how on earth will it ever fit on our panties... But even then huh, even when it covers front to back, it can sometimes still stain 😞
Today is day 1 and it gushes already..

I can so relate to you ladies here… What had helped to make it seem more tolerable was that a colleague recommended that I use tampon instead of pads. The first time, the tampon soaked, leaked, and I ended up a miserable mess. After that, I would put a tampon and then still put the normal pad. This gives me enough time to get to work, settle down to morning routines, before going for a change. Sometimes there’s some leak onto the pad, but having a tampon in place gives me the comfort of knowing that I won’t end up a miserable mess that morning! … especially on those days that I have to be out of office or attend meetings etc!

What really worked well for me is also the Laurier Super Slim Guard 22.5cm (day) and the night one (30cm). Sofy (the pink one with wings) worked well, too … but they are a bit expensive.

Another thing I have tried, tested and proven was to take the contraceptive pill. It makes the menses more predictable - in terms of timing and quantity. The pain was also much reduced. I realised that a handful of friends and colleagues takes the pill solely for this purpose! And it works well when traveling etc. I works like a clockwork - take for 21 days. Menses will start 3 - 4 days afterward (and last for 5 days)… so when need to travel, maybe will take for 18 days, or 28 days! Unfortunately, I had to stop after a few months because the pill made me nauseated (when taken during the day) and it made me wake up in hunger (if taken during the night)…

yes saw gynae, my womb lining very thick. Gynae suggest insert Mirena to relieve the heavy menses but i didn't.

                        Hi everyone,

For those with heavy menses, do you get brown discharge at the tail end of your period? Have been getting that and rather worried…
