Sama sama  Yes, i must 'warn' you that when i share recipes, you wont find any measurements cos everything added suka suka lah šŸ˜‰

But soda has to be a pinch or 1tsp like you mentioned (once i 'overloaded' and the taste was.... :!: vanilla essence yea 1/2 to 1tsp according to your batter quantity.
Usually one egg for batter that makes 4-6 pancakes, depending on pancake size šŸ˜„

The fact is it is not troublesome at all.... Pancake mix is the simplest of all to do for a quick fix of breakfast as long as you have flour, milk and egg.

Also, I often wonder why there's no egg required for the pancake premixes... maybe they added some artificial egg in there or something...

To get over the baking soda part, just use self-raising flour, I think it should work.

To each his/ her own lah :celebrate:
I used to buy pre-mixes too and always add milk instead of water even latter is only required.
My boys love pancakes and if i did not hve the pre-mix then v leceh when they ask and I cant make for them.

Since we buy plain flour to make pizza and other Indian rotis, i experimented one day and it turned out great! And as you get used to it, its really easy-peasy šŸ˜Ž Just try once if you have the ingredients at home šŸ˜„

Its not just about preservatives alone, its less costly and you can make it healthier by adding flaxseed or wheatgerm etc, less packaging etc etc

I shall keep my eyes open next time I go sheng siong. So far i hve only seen a variety of flour...

Those who enjoy cooking with children or make home-made goodies, you may want to try this:

Must admit that I have never tried making anything with gelatin!

:thankyou: all for pointing out where to get the pandan chiffon premix. I have checked both NTUC and Cold Storage before, but must have missed it or maybe I was still looking out for the old packaging that came in a box...?

                      :?

Yes, yes! Making own batter was so easy and donkey years ago I used to make that for myself to eat

When DD was younger, I asked my maid to make pancakes (for DD's afternoon snacks) using our own ingredients, but she just ignored me and used premix instead :x

Certainly not helped by the fact that DH is into buying anything pre-processed :stupid:
