Hi All,Thanks csc. My DS is getting used to tying and unttying the tie, will take him some more time i think  .
csc, is ur DS in ACS? In Sec ???
DS was practising furiously with the tie yesterday, gave up after a while.
Discipline Master said he'll have boys undo the tie and do it up in front of him, those who can't do will be 'disciplined'.
There goes the daddy's plan of the quick-fix, pre-done, just loop it over the neck, and tighten it.
Also he went with pe attire under uni, was told to do it, beach cleanup this morning. -
Breezy and Harini,
thanks for the warm welcome.
Its great to be \"accepted by the group\"
Harini,
I'm really a newbie with forum. How do I pm you?
My son told me that they boys went for try-outs for various sports yesterday. He did not get selected for rugby (his 1st choice) maybe due to his small frame.
He's keeping his fingers crossed that he'll be shorlisted for basketball team.
I understand that the boys have to take up 2 CCA - 1 sport/ society and 1 UYO(Uniformed youth organisation).
My son is interested in joining the debating team. Will check with the school if they would allow this instead of him joining another CCA from UYO.
How about you guys? have your sons decided on their CCAs yet? -
huh?
I chose a smiley face, but it turns out different???
Oh harini, Iβve spotted the pm icon.
Will get in touch with you. -
ACS(I) students (2009 cohort) did very well for the IB exams. 27 students obtained perfect score of 45 worldwide out of which 13 are from ACS(I).
My son said that Dr Ong (Principal) has indicated that he would like to grant a school holiday either on the 11th Jan or 12th Jan 2010.
Letβs wait for the confirmation.
My heartiest congratulations to these students.
they have indeed make ACS(I) proud.
I hope our sons will work just as hard and produce excellent results when their time come. -

UYO is compulsory except for school athletes/swimmers (I am not sure about other sports, but these sports require almost daily training).
If your son takes up Debating, he doesn't have to do a Sport.
The 2nd CCA can be clubs/service groups/sports.
Hope this helps! -

Yes - it was great to read abt their results - the ACS website has also been updated with the IB results. It is truly amazing that almost half the perfect scorers come from ACS(I). We are proud to be part of the ACS family :celebrate: !!ACS(I) students (2009 cohort) did very well for the IB exams. 27 students obtained perfect score of 45 worldwide out of which 13 are from ACS(I).

My DS also tried the sports y'day - came home tired. Still not sure which CCA to take. Would they have like a UYO and clubs bazaar too - Otherwise how would the children know which clubs to choose from ... -
ACS(I) benchmarks against schools like this:
http://www.sevenoaksschool.org/examination-results
It makes it even more remarkable considering that ACS(I) has been running IP only since 2004 and IB first graduating batch was 2007. -
Just wondering like most of you how and when will the boys sign in for their CCA.Did you hand in the green form-additional $4.20 for their sports injury plan.Wonder if you parents are feeling lost! :? So many grey areas! Are there any of you with boys taking chinese as a third language?[/url]
