[quote=“dathan-adiel”]Hi, I have a part time maid who has been with me for about a 5 months now. But hubby and I decided to hire a full time maid so I am helping my PT maid look for a new PT cleaning job. PM me for her contact number. I highly recommend her as she is clean in the house, honest and she value her work a lot. Her rate is 12/hr and is available every sunday. Thanks
Hi,
I hv not hired a pt n full time maid before, just wan to hear from u wat is the diff?
N ur pt maid is good then y u wan to change to full time maid?
Cos i wan a pt maid n my hubby ask me to apply for a full time de. So tat i no need to do cleaning everyday after my work… tks. -
If you have been managing well with a PT maid, then I personally would recommend that you continue doing so. A full time maid is a lot different - being available 24x7 or so we think also means you have added responsibility - financially and socially. To me it is introducing extra headache. First you gotta pray that you get a decent person. Then you gotta trust your home to them while you are at work, train them to cook and clean, and hopefully they don't do funny things in their free time.
Instead of getting a full-time maid, try to invest in gadgets like dryer, dishwasher, those automated mop thingy... it really helps a lot. In addition, you can also make some small changes to cooking style / lifestyle etc to make cleaning easier and lessen the amount of housekeeping.
My DC are 5 and 2 and I have had a maid since #2 was born (partly because DH wants baby to be at home so that his mom can come over and play :slapshead: ) . #3 is coming along but in all my planning I try to do without a maid. Having a maid doesn't help when I wanna teach my children about values and right eating habits. Whenever people ask this question - maid or no maid - my answer is always, no maid unless that becomes a last resort. Friends that have done away with the maid tells me that it take some extra effort, but it is worth it (independent children, more privacy, no maid-related headaches, etc). -

Hi everyone,
I am considering getting a PT helper once the contract for my current FT helper ends. HR-issues with a live-in maid apart, the cost savings from using a PT helper will very much depend on how much work the PT helper can achieve on a 4-hour a week basis…or if not, and she has to come in twice a week.
I have 3 kids below the age of 6, so it’s a fairly insane volume of laundry plus ironing on top of the regular cleaning of the flat.
Is 4-hours a week reasonable for a household of 5? How much can she really accomplish?
Grateful to hear your views and thoughts/experience on this.
Many thanks in advance!! -

4 hours many not be enough. I have a family of 4 including myself, 2 DS and DH. Piles of clothes have to be ironed everyday. I cannot do without a helper. So to me I dont think 4 hours is enoughHi everyone,

4 hrs a week is definitely not enough if you expect her to do all the housework.
If you engage a part-timer for 4 hr p wk, you/ your Mrs/ kids will have to be part-time maids too. i.e. do some of the housework.
eg for a family of 5, just the ironing alone will take more than 4 hr p wk, especially if you want all clothing, beddings etc to be ironed. -

Thanks, POA Teacher. Either that or accept a less tidy home!4 hrs a week is definitely not enough if you expect her to do all the housework.

It just might make better sense to work with a full-time domestic helper living in house after all... -
Nebbermind:
But what's so shocking about that?
