Stupid me, the above posts reminded me that it didn’t occur to me to vaccinate him (he had 1 few years back but I heard they expire?) during the hols…

:yikes: vaccinations not 100% effective?
Both DS have vaccinations and they still got it. I just hope the eruption is not serious.happyheart:
Supp classes are cancelled and doc has just certified DS with chicken pox! He is going to miss more lessons when school reopens!
 :nailbite:
On the bright side, we count our blessings at least it is not during PSLE period.
His outbreak is mild at this moment. I have no experience dealing with chicken pox, how can I help him to recover faster?
Wish your boys recover quickly.
Thanks. I also heard vaccination is not 100% protection but it is said that if it happens, the reaction is milder, and I hope so. DS2 is getting a lot more pink dots than DS1:(
In our family, only hubby has caught chicken pox - during his NS days.
-

My late granny told me those who kena chicken pox must be very heaty. her advice to me is to take care n not reach that heaty level. I am 43 yo this year, also hv not contracted chicken pox. My worry is I heard that the older the person, the worse are the discomfort when kena chicken pox :nailbite::yikes: vaccinations not 100% effective?

Vaccination is not 100% effective but will lessen the effects of chicken pox considerably. In the early stages, it is possible to have a jab that will mitigate the effects (can’t recall what it does). My hubby contracted it some years back and DSes all kena - DS1 was really mild becos of vaccination; DS2 was the poor boy…full of poxes, he was only a baby and we didn’t think to vaccinate him (YET).
I recall my mum making parsley (?) water for DH to drink everyday. he couldn’t take a lot of food also (esp chicken and duck…old folks but safe better than sorry). Veg stall holders may know what drink to make for them. -
