The June holiday is over 😒 😒 😒 DS only managed to finish 1/4 of his target 😒

I thought your DS is doing fine with most subjects...no??? Curious..what would be his original target of 4/4?

He targeted to finish 80 top school papers during the June holiday (he set the target himself. I have nothing to do with it. Please don't flame me.). He only finished 22 papers. Sigh... Now I must think carefully how to discuss this with him as it will affect his behaviour in the future. Should I tell him next time not to set such a high goal or should I be happy that at least he finished a quarter of his target or should I be angry with him?
hi ngl2010

i feel that setting high goals is important but it has to be realistic. my dd wanted to do ALL the papers but i made her work out a daily to do list and then she realised that it is just not possible cos i wanted her not just to complete but to get the feel of the time limit. hence each paper's full time is worked into the schedule, tutor's hw, school hw, plus gaigai time, free time, eat, bathe, toilet time too. πŸ˜‰

hence, as long as each day's work is fulfilled, then, for me is target met.

DS is also no where near 22 or 80. I think to finish 22 papers is quite good already, I would be happy if DS can do so much!
You should not scold or be angry with him, I feel. But perhaps talk to him about setting realistic goals so that both of you will not be disappointed.

Sorry, but 80, isn't that equivalent to almost the entire 4 sets of exams papers, assuming each set have 10 schools paper, sa1 & prelims papers. My kids have never finished the entire set of any papers before. We always have many rough paper at the end of the year. :rotflmao:

I wish my ds can set some kind of target. He's just waiting for me to give him work to do. Else he will just be reading his book in a corner. And whenever he takes break from his work, he never remember to come back to his work. :faint:

Thank you for the opinion and advice on the amount of past year papers. DH has been sick for the past 1 week so we've been busy (visits to doctor, blood test, etc).

DS also got swollen eyes on Sunday. Doctor said it is delayed reaction due to haze as PM2.5 was still lingering. We were surprised that we only needed to pay $5 for DS's consultation and medicine. The clinic said they will claim the rest from govt πŸ˜„ If I remember correctly, govt is subsidizing $30 for haze related illnesses.

DS got a lot of homework from school and he said starting next week the supplementary lessons will be 4 days a week :faint: One of them is actually Chinese's teacher own initiative so other classes may not have. I am glad that his Chinese teacher is kiasu πŸ˜‰

My DD has been very weak in her science since p3 & got botherline pass since p5. She is currently having one-to-one tuition but i find that it doesn't help. She is weak in science knowledge so even MCQ can't do.

PSLE is just 2mths down the road & i am very worried. Do you think i should change the tutor or just leave it since left 2mths only.

Can someone pls advise as i am feeling down & worry. What should l do with her now as i have little knowledge on science. :stupid:

Is Monday school holiday? DS already got schedule for this term but no mention about Monday holiday :? Is it compulsory holiday for all schools? I wonder whether his school is so kiasu that they are making P6 to go to school on Monday.
