Neighbourhood schools the best option!
If get into a poppular school - it is not just torturous process now (with ballotting and all) but also for the next 6years for a child’s life and of course the poor mummy and daddy too!
Popular school…nah for me… -

Hi! I hope to get my son in SJI but we’re living outside of 2km. I know my chances are very low but anyone knows if it’s even worth it to give it a shot?

Are you under P2B or P2C?
If P2B, there will be balloting for >2km.
If you are under P2C then from past history no chance becos balloting were either at <1km or 1-2km

Is you kid SC? -
Thanks for the reply! We’re SC but under Phase 2C… so looks like there’s no chance at all… Will very likely try for Cantonment Primary which is less than 1km from where I live under Phase 2C…

Yes, worst come to worst I will need to get a nanny. Thank for the solution.
Look for a nanny to take care your child after school. Look for one you trust through recommendation near to your place of residence. This is one option that you can consider.loonshi:
Hi Mummies,
I'm currently in a deliemma. Wanted to enrol my son to North Spring as I'm staying very near to North Spring however the only student care nearest to NSps, Lotus Student Care is closing down next year 2014 as they are converting into childcare centre :slapshead: :slapshead: .
So now North Spring is out of the question. The next choice will be Sengkang Pri but their in house student care is full and they only give priority to siblings of the current student next year and the next nearest student care, Sengkang Student Care just outside sengkang pri is also full!!!
Mummies in Sengkang area, besides they list of student care in MSF website, any other student care in Sengkang? Pls advise thanks. Greatly appreciated. I'm in a loss now.

Thank u so much. North spring primary will be in morning session next year. It was published on MOE website. Now I'm still hunting for student care but apparently none has vacancy. I'm wondering where do the students goes after school if their parents are both working.Hi loonshi,
Check -
Are all the schools in your area (sengkang) - p1 in morning session ?
Think After school student care centre apply, if p1 is morning session.
But if p1 is afternoon session for some schools, then no need student care centre, because your child will be spending their afternoon inside the school having classroom lessons.
Btw, parents also find out whether p1 next year is morning or Afternoon session, in that respective school you intend to enrol your child in. Not all schools have gone single session yet - until 2016. If your child is those type that have difficulty waking up early morning around 5 or 6 am to catch school bus (because most primary schools flag raising ceremony, sing national anthem around 7.15 am thereabout), maybe can consider schools that offer p1 afternoon session.
It is also a good time to find out which level in your school of choice kickstart higher Chinese. Because sometimes whether your child can do higher Chinese or not may not just depend on the exam results of Chinese one subject alone, but may also depend on the performance of other subjects along as well - to ensure that your child is able to cope with the demand of higher Chinese. This happen in some primary schools, not all.
Any parents can share with me pls? Appreciate with thanks. -

There is Polaris Junior Student Centre at Block 323B Sengkang East Way. My son is there for past 3 years. They cater for NCPS. For other schools, you have to cater your own transport and they will pick up/send off at designated point.Hi Mummies,
