Don't think will be as effective. My GP told me the reason why the MMR booster shot is brought forward is there are numbers to suggest need the booster shot earlier to help protect more effectively against the diseases. There were kids who were infected though they had the 1st shot. I forgot to ask her if the kids are fr Singapore or other countries.
The way I see it, it's better to vaccinate and protect your own kid, rather than rely on other people to vaccinate their kids and protect yours.
Herd immunity. However, if everyone starts to think that herd immunity will protect their child and so decide against vaccination, then it will no longer work and unvaccinated children will cease to have that degree of protection.Attolia:
Hi phtthp,
if you don't intend to let your dd get the measles shot, that's the one highlighted in the report, how will you get your child protected against the disease ? -
sembgal:
My gal took her 1st chickenpox vaccine last oct..do you have to take 2nd dose of chickenpox vaccine? My boy born in 2008 only took 1 chickenpox vaccine (individual shot, not combined with MMR), my gal born 2011 took MMRV shot.Maybe individual chickenpox vaccine is stronger hence his sister got chickenpox, he didn't got it from her.lukemommy:
yes sahm_tan, my girl had her 1st MMR+chickenpox vaccine last oct and she got chickenpox in Jan but very mild chickenpox outbreak...guess will call her pd to ask should take 2nd dosage or not..don't know if MOH read the article will suspend MMR vaccine for the time being or not?
Did your child take her first or second chicken pox vaccine last year? If first chicken pox jab, there is a possibility the child can still catch chicken pox. That's why my pd recommend to have 2nd chicken pox vaccine for children born in 2007. Extra protection hehe. -

If your dd did not have a reaction to the 1st shot, most likely will not react to the booster shot too.
Talk to your pd and hear what your pd say. -
SAHM_TAN:
yes, I agree with you. After second thought, since dd is alright after 1st shot, I think 2nd shot should be fine...her kor kor had already done with both shots. Their PD is very particular, I wanted to give DS flu jab but she disapproved. Nevertheless, will still call the clinic to check..sometimes such report really makes parents worry..lukemommy:

My child took all her jabs from Private Children's Clinic @ KKH and the paediatrician consultant will give advice of any parents' concern. It would be good to check with your own doctor first for further advice if needed or not.sembgal:

Hi, I would like to get your advice on the registration and withdrawal process. I have 2 choices: 2A1 on school A and 2A2 on school B. I prefers school B but the registration at phase 1 is > 50% and I am worried that I canβt get into school B. so I am thinking of registering at school A and depending on stats, may try for School B. but my question is when is the latest date I must withdraw from school A in order to register for school B. MOE customer service personnel told me I must do it before the phase 2A2 starts. But this is different from what I heard from the schools. Anyone has experience on this and if there is anywhere to confirm the procedure in writing? Any suggestion on strategy? Tks!

Tomorrow early morning, call up school b principal -
Ask her to confirm - must you withdraw from phase 2a(1), before 2a(2) start , or can you wait after 2a(2) has started on 15 and. 16 July, then withdraw so long as do it before 4.30 pm closing time. Get her to reply you, in black and white. Clarify with school b principal - is what that customer service officer at moe telling you, correct info ? Is this the latest changes introduced by moe, to prevent last minute withdrawal & re-apply cases ? Ask to speak to school b principal direct.
Tomorrow morning -
Also call up moe, speak to the customer officer again.
Ask her why moe never inform public openly that if wish to withdraw from an earlier phase to re-apply another phase, parents must withdraw the child first, before the next phase start ? This is something new! We public are not informed in advance ! Since when has this started ? Wef this batch ? Gather all facts. If she canβt answer you, ask to speak to her supervisor, to clarify.
Bec if what she said is true - then how Abt for other phases 2c ?
Does it also mean parents must withdraw from earlier phases, before 2c even start ? Because many parents are eyeing the number of vacancies left on the last day of 2c - to check & confirm is it risky or not, got chance or not, before decide or not, to withdraw their kid from earlier phase. This has a great impact on them - if moe say must withdraw, before the next phase start, not after the next phase had started. -

Ask her to EMAIL you to follow up on your enquiry. Tell her you can't hear her clearly on the phone, best she email to you so you can slowly read and digest the info.Nespresso:

I've done it before and they do email me as requested. (It was regarding another matter.)
