Are there a lot more 2007 Golden Piggies born or is this situation due to New Citizens and their accompanying children? Am wondering why the statistics jump so much.

39,490 babies were born in Singapore in 2007. But these figures also include foreigners born here which consist of 18% on that yr. The figure does not include those born outside Singapore and has returned. Some people might have emigrate out of here.

I sure hope n pray Ai Tong ballot under 2A this year, leaving nothing for 2B n 2C. It will be a national scandal and catalyst event as glassloots, PVs n parents within 1km voice their outrage to their MPs n the press. A key sch like Ai Tong will capture the nation’s attention on the issue. "i’m living here but why is every one from all over Sg gets to attend my (famous) neighborhood sch when my kids don’t even stand a chance!?" Minority citizens n their leaders may speak up against the SAP program. The Opposition n responsible ruling party parliamentarians will take the Govt to task n the system will be changed for the betterment of our future generations!

Just curious, does a PR who used to be an old student of the school gets priority under Phase 2a1 or 2a2?

P1 through P2CS are for children who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents. It is the children's nationality or PR status that matters, not that of their parents.

I also think that MOE will not intervene this time as the rules are very clear and they cannot change when the registration process had started. If there's really some school stop at 2A2 this time, I can foresee many people will voice their unhappiness and the govt may tweak the rule in the following yr.
I foresee that from next year batch of p1 registration (ie. kids born 2008 onwards):-
Many phase 2a(2) parents will try their best to \"move up\" to phase 2a(1), ESP. In popular schools like ai tong, henry park, nan Hua, nanyang, acs, Fairfield, etc.

Because these 4 schools like (ai tong, nan Hua, nanyang, Henry park) :-
Their take off starting point in phase 1 already exceeded 50 % beyond half way mark so fast, hence by the time they reach phase 2a(2) - 2a(2) is no longer safe (unlike in the past).

In the event of balloting in 2a(2) at ai tong,
They still go by distance. Those staying less than 1 km are safer, compared to those staying more than 2 km.

Ai tong is one of the schools founded by the singapore Hokkien huay kuan association (shhk). She had a long history background. Shhk continue to support the funding of ai tong; she is not a 100% fully government controlled primary school. Shhk is a powerful, rich association. The Hokkien clan members have a say, in how they want to run and administer ai tong. Hence, that part about \"opposition & responsible ruling party taking government to task\" may not apply, unless she is a 100% government controlled, school. No Hokkien clan. No teochew clan.

But who will bark & make noise ?
Will be those grassroot leaders from pap, under phase 2b.
Because if ai tong enter 2a(2) balloting, this group of people from 2b won't have chance to enter the school.

MOE only guarantee placement for Phase 1 kids. In the registration policy balloting is within the system after Phase 1, which means MOE could have foreseen such a day that there will be balloting after Phase 1. In addition, for Phase 2B and Phase 2C, these only rec the remaining vacancies fr P2A equally between them. So MOE will not reserve vacancies for P2B and P2C.

I guess parents in P2B and P2C will be angry, if there’s balloting in P2A because it has not happened for a very long time. But besides Phase 1, there’s no guarantee for the other phases.

There’s enough vacancies for school going P1 kids. I doubt there will be any knee-jerk reaction if Ai Tong ballot in P2A2. There was a year when CHS only had 9(?) for each P2B and P2C. Last year, Rulang had 10 vacancies for each P2B and P2C. But there was no changes made to the registration policy this year. MOE has ample time to change if they wanted to.

What are the principles of P1 registration?

All P1 going kids will have a primary school to attend
Siblings ( existing students) will be in the same school guaranteed

If parents with 2008 kids want to register as alumni members, they will have to quickly check with their alma mater. Usually there's a min time-frame on membership requirement before they are able to use the alumni member status to qualify for P2A1.
