Yes I am staying within 1km, but unfortunately, I am only eligible for the phase 2C. So am now monitoring the situation for Phase 2B. I don't know whether my DS have any chance for Phase 2C or not.

From the same link, it seems need not have both parents to be around (sometimes one may be at overseas), but a letter of authorization is required. But both original ICs have to be shown during registration. So those parents standby at different schools till near 4.30pm will have to rush down to the school of their choice.

Letter of authorisation is required only if neither of the parents is available to register. You don't need any letter of authorisation if one of the parents registers personally. However, you do need the original NRICs of both parents.

My friend just called... they didn't release total no. registered today but all who registered were within 1km & 1-2km. So i suppose those outside of 2km won't have a chance...

Probably because what do you do with four places and seven places? Unless those are your only schools nearby, it's probably better to hedge your bets elsewhere. It would have been better if there were 0 places. Then people wouldn't have to think about whether to ballot for a measly four places or go somewhere else. JMO.

Think those staying around Henry park school (4 seats left in 2b, plus 3 seats in 2c) will divert attention towards either Fairfield Methodist or bukit timah primary, in phase 2c. Because 3 or 4 seats left - is neither here nor there.
