I know of parent with a set of twins who preferred their children to go 2 different schools. Why? To build each individual identity.

That's their choice, by all means.

I too know of a parent who send her non-twins same gender different age kids to different schools.

Parents have different parenting styles mah, no right, no wrong, as long as not abusive, who are we to say which style is better.

If there’s a need for balloting in my choice of school, do I need to be present on that day?

I understand that parents can register online but still need to go down to the school on another day to show documentary proof. However, I prefer the traditional way of registering the child in the school. I want to ask if parents can bring along their children when they go down to register and is it advisable to bring the child to the school? What do you think?
Actually, there is nothing much u can show your child if u bring him/her along for the registration. Since it is a school day, the school won't let visitors wonder around im the school. Designated route will guide u straight to Hall.

Put yourself in the shoes of current parents that have children studying in the school now, u also don't want strangers to walk here n there, looking into classrooms where ur kids are studying.

I didn't bring my dd1 when I registered in P2B last yr becos I was not sure if there was going to be balloting. I didn't want her to think that she was definitely going to that school. If the was balloting and my number was not selected, I didn't want to explain to her why she couldn't go to that school. I'm a lazy mother in this regard. If I can give less problems to myself I will LOLOLOLOL.[/quote]Me too when I registered ds1! But I was abit more 'extreme'. After he balloted n got the space, i brot him down to the school during 2C to tell him that I'm 'registering' him in that school. Wanted ds1 to 'experience' the process...

I just hung ard outside the office space. Hb brot him walk ard the limited area that was open to public... N when he is back... I was like 'mummy's done' n we left... He was so happy with the experience n was like telling everyone I went with mummy to register for school...

              😉

                Sembgal,

On registration day, you may bring your child down, to school premises, let her take a look at the school compound. Because register only. Can bring her to the playground, school hall, tuck shop, bookshop, cookery room (if any). But avoid classroom, since lessons going on inside. During recess time, you can talk to the school prefect, ask them how they find their school? Are they happy studying there? Children are innocent. They always give you first hand info readily, and they speak the truth.

But on actual balloting day, not advisable to bring child, as you (as a parent) will be stressed, on balloting day. After your child confirmed get in, you can bring her down To school, go bookshop, show her how to buy stationery. Go canteen, show her how to buy food & drink.
