My DD was just shorlisted for CCA-Dance group interview this coming Thursday. Can any parent share their experience in such interviews- who are the interviewers and what do they ask? Also, is there any way for my DD to choose the \"IP track\" if she gets CO for DSA- CCA?

Hi, my DD is also going for interview on thursday! likely the principal and vice principal will be there. i can only guess that they ask standard questions like why do u want to come to scgs etc.. I'm a first-timer as well so can't relate experience.. all the best to your DD!

Thanks tearsforfears, what time is your DD's interview? Mine is at 3.45pm for dance. Your DD is going for which niche CCA?

I think they group it by cca's so all dance in one interview etc.? Actually it clashes with DD's oral exam but i'm trying to push her oral to the day before for both eng and chinese as oral exams over 2 days..

@tearforfear: i agreed with you. Both my girls tried out tests for DSA. It was not successful. They were matured enough that it was a risk if their EOY result is much better...they will have more choice to prick their dream schools. Anyway, cut short, my girls surprisingly did very well in PSLE, they went into their based on their own merit. Also they can switch CCA easily relative to DSA students.

Agree with ESME. Your child might change her mind along the process. Just like my dd, she was not successful in her DSA too. Her PSLE aggregate score enables her to enter to the school that she was not successful in her DSA but she had changed her mind and insisted on SCGs. She was so impressed by their program and eloquence of the students' speaking during the SCGS talk in her primary school. Now think over, it is really a blessing in disguise. I feel that SCGS's program suits her better. SCGS provides a holistic education and the teachers are not biased against those who do not perform well academically. Instead, they provide supplementary classes for the students if they feel that they need the extra lessons. After all, the most important is that thery enjoy their school life.

firefly, 23 Nov. You can still remember when they moved to this premise?

Hi Jtoh.. Were you there too? I remember it was some time around mid 90s when they had some celebrations at the new school campus..

Wish all parents and children good luck for tomorrowโ€™s DSA interview at SCGS. Tips from my DDโ€™s friend who went through the interview last year : Look neat, smile and speak up (louder voice helps).

Hi, anyone with DD waiting to join the school ? or any existing parents with dd in the current IP can share their experiences on how the curriculum is like, would be greatly appreciated.. would like to hear some honest feedback on how the 1st year of implementation of the IP program been for SC ?

Or, if you have a girl in the school currently.. how is the school environment and culture ?
Thanks very much in advance ๐Ÿ™‚ looking forward to hearing 1st hand vibes and honest opinions.

i don't know anything about SCGS IP program but something to note which is relevant for all new sec 1 freshman.. My SIL (whose dd is in sec 4 now) told me that the girls form cliques from day 1 as most are from SCGS primary.. so newcomers need to be sociable and it will take a while to break into a clique.. guess lots of encouragement needed from family when you have a girl who just joins sec 1.. i'd think such scenario is common for \"full schools\" where most kids move from primary to secondary within same school..

All these set to change with Annoucement on National Day Rally that T-Score will be done away with.
Obviously, affliation will have to be done away with!. Sec-1 posting will be new schema

Pure meritocracy !
