I tailor-made all the girls' uniforms to ensure the armpit holes are the right size. I think it is worth it, since it is a dress, and each tailor made dress costs $25. The ones you buy off the shelf cost $14. I guess spending $11 is worth it, since you get to see the girls looking good everyday.
She explain that if the hole is much bigger than the arm, then they must guard their modesty against any unwanted exposure. That is why she said sleeveless uniform is not practical. -
This year FLL there are two champion teams. One is RVHS and the other is SCGS, both teams would be representing singapore in the upcoming world FLL in Atlanta on April.

Since the circumference of everyone's arm is different, looks like most parents in SCGS gotta tailor-made ...

But what was the reason that the early adopters/management in SGCS, came out with the idea of sleeveless uniform ? :? -

By Evelyn Choo, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 09 January 2010 2148 hrs
SINGAPORE: 200 youths gathered at the School of Science and Technology on Saturday evening for a chance to represent Singapore at the FIRST LEGO League Challenge in the United States.
48 teams revved their motors to come up with the best concept for smart transportation which is the theme this year.
The participants come from all walks of life including student care groups and needy households.
Some were mentored for eight weeks by volunteer professional engineers.
17 teams received recognition under various categories, like teamwork.
Some even won a prize for dressing in style.
The winning team may receive S$50,000 in seed funding if their model is found to be commercially viable.
10 youths will represent Singapore in the World Festival this April. - CNA/vm -

May I know which tailor you engage? Is it the same uniform supplier company?

Our weather is too hot to have the jacket as part of the uniform. Most pri school kids don't bother with the jackets at all unless they take the school bus early in the morning which can be a little chilly. However, the secondary school girls are a different breed. They can wear it the whole day. Maybe they are more conscious of exposing the armpits
