Today is a short day. DS returned home at 12 and followed by lunch and tuition that ended at 2.45pm. I brought him for a hair cut which took us 2 hours. From 5.15pm to 8.30pm, he just lazed around, read his story books and played with his toys. No initiatives at all to do revision on his own. Now, at 8.45pm, he just started on his science homework! Should I be upset? I do not want to stress him but a random check on the 词语 reveal that he still cannot remember many of them! I am getting nervous!

happyheart, perhaps your ds just wanna chill for a day. my dd had some 'off' days too. as long as when i checked with her, her schedules are met, homework for school and tutors get done. i'm good.

as for his weak points, perhaps he's just sassing with u.... not that he really cannot remember. i feel that this last stretch is playing on the mental aspects liao. too much pressure may have the opposite effect.

cool down and talk calmly to him. ask the why, when, how questions and hear him out. :hugs:

I have to keep nagging and reminding, like as if there is no clock hanging on my wall! Of course I will give him rest and 'off day' but time is so precious now and he is not making use of it wisely. Honestly, I think he really does not remember the 词语。。。

....and u feel that you're sounding like a broken record soon. a recording that goes 'have u finished your work yet?' 'go do your work' this was echoed back to me via dd when i give her a harder stare than usual. sigh....

happyheart, i think the stress is getting to u. do take it easy. my dd who is reading behind me says u need to chill. 😄

Errrrrrr. DD Sch organised bowling for all P6 today. After that we went long lunch followed by library. Home at 4pm nap till 6pm. Dilly dally a bit & whole family out for dinner at BK Burger. Home at 8pm DD started watching her Wed serial 30mins. Read story book & now I'm downstairs waiting for DD to complete her 1 hour brisk walk. She has been on it for a few days without fail cos the daddy promised her iPad if she can lose 5kg......

talk about motivation & determination, DD beats me hands down. Must channel some to her studies 😉

Does anybody know where to get a list of 词汇/places for Chinese oral?

                Hi there,

I remember I saw a book which contains words used for oral. It has chinese-english version and with hanyupinyin. Saw it at Popular bookstore quite some times ago and hence I can't really remember the title. You may want to call popular and check whether they have it.

                Hope this info helps 🙂

PS I have browse the popular online store but can't find it. They may not have include all titles online.

                :thankyou:

                      ngl2010:

I got a bit angry last night. Panic mode. PSLE Oral is next week and DS is not up to my standard yet. I told DS that no tutor can help him at this point in time (he asked me to get a tutor for these 4.5 days :slapshead: ) so he must trust me. I have to remind him my 'achievements' in helping him. Tutors are good but they cannot stay in the house for the whole 4.5 days. They are useful to help in technical aspects but parents are the ones that can monitor the practices. Luckily after  he agreed to work together with me and use my method. I hope these 4.5 days will be fruitful :xedfingers:

To all parents... let's jiayou together :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah:

Hi ngl2010, will you be able to share your oral preparation method with us? I am lost, don’t know how to prepare ds. :imdrowning:

                      Hi Wimpy Kid,

It is actually not my method  . It is Chenonceau's. Here is the link

                      http://petunialee.blogspot.sg/2012/08/preparing-for-psle-oral.html

Of course I am 15 months late, DS doesn't have grandma that can read accurately, we don't have compo books used by children in China and we don't have superior scripts from tutor. We just make do with what we have. It is a gamble I am taking because I am desperate. If after 4.5 days DS's Oral deteriorated, I will ask him to undo what he learned during these 4.5 days.
