DS's school gave out tips on identifying signs and symptoms of stress on children so I thought of sharing them with parents here.
Physical signs:
Headaches, stomach aches
Muscle tension, fatigue
Sleep disruption
Loss of appetite or overeating
Sweaty palms
Trembling
Emotional signs:
Anxiety and being bad-tempered
Excessive worrying, moody
Sadness, fear
Feeling inadequate
Behavioural signs:
Act in defensive, aggressive or impulsive manner
Nervous habit (eg biting nail)
Loss of interest in activities
Withdrawing from social activities
Mental signs:
Poor concentration
Forgetfulness
Lack of confidence
Everyone reacts and copes with situations differently and thus they experience stress to different levels of intensity.
All the best to our DCs for their PSLE Oral tomorrow and Friday!

Thanks goodluck8 for sharing and will monitor his progress.
Dont overstress your DC and yourself too. Since he complains headache , it can be a sign of stress. We dont want their mind to go blank on the actual day or they getting too panic.Wishace:
Hi all
I have been quietly following this thread since end of last year as my DS is taking his PSLE this year too.
So much information have been shared in this thread and most of them have been very helpful to me.
The PSLE oral is just 2 days away and the pressure can be felt so deeply in my house. DS didn't do well for his Prelim Oral and we are all very disappointed. These few days we tried to do more oral practices with him but most of the time we ended up scolding him especially for the conversation part for both languages.
He also complains about feeling tired and getting headaches quite easily these days. Really very very scared that he will burnt out.
I am feeling burnt out liao ........
For me, i totally dont ask how my DD scored for her prelim oral, but at least i know what she had scored in SA1. That's good enough to judge her standard. My strategy is not to show that i too concerned about her result. The most important thing i concerned is she has tried her best. Of course, this few days i am also revising oral with her and try to make it as she is just taking another school's oral not PSLE.
All the best to all P6 students.
Tomorrow is the 1st hurdle and I wished all 2013 PSLE kids the best for their orals. :rahrah: Jia you !!! Jia you !!! -
