Why do u consider cstd? Since cstd exam is twice a year, so the child can actually opt for either time to do the exam. But unlike rad, only once a year. Miss that period and u have to wait right

Hi, I'm actually clueless about ballet until I chanced upon this thread. I did not choose the ballet school because of CSTD or RAD preference. I chose it more for convenience sake and something fun for my girl to spend her time during her preschool years. I wasn't even aware about my child has to take ballet exam until the teacher told me. All along, I want my child to enjoy ballet and to have flexibility. I'm happy with my child's progress and let her enjoy at her pace. The joy of learning must be there. I'm just glad I started her at the right timing to learn ballet as her body is rather flexible now to learn gymnastics.

Hi, fo exam wise it will depend on children. Some children enjoy class but do not like exam stress. But as the age grow, they may also take ir differently. So if they want to try out the exam, it is quite acceptable to let them try as children react differently in terms of exam.

But if she doesn't take the coaching class, then she will take once a week how does she cope or catch up w the rest ?

To give the kids exposure and prepare them for actual RAD grading at G1.

Fyi, If the child does not meet the standard....the ballet teacher might not sign her up for the RAD exam....

So far, only one gal in my gals’s previous class did not do the exams (pri, g1 and g2) with the rest of the class.


She did fine… She had no problem with the dance routines. The teacher, at every lesson, will still hv to ensure that the gal gets her moves and positions correct. Her responsibility as a teacher, right? Except, maybe nearing the exams, teacher may be more strict with the rest of the girls instead.

She will not be allowed to skip the next exam (g3), so the teacher said. I guess, when the time comes for her to take her first exam (g3)… The teacher will make sure she is ( the whole class in fact ) must be good enough/ready to pass her(their) exams for that level. The only disadvantage for that gal, I guess will be the lack of examination experience.

Hmm, the transition from g1 to g2 is not big… I heard, the big jump in difficulty is at grade 3…
