All About Full-Time Maids

Wa! U pay $4500 in advance? Do u still pay your maid in the first 8 months. Plus agency fees, total u pay $$5000+?

My 1st payment was about $1500 which includes agency fees, insurance, medical check up and all the paperwork. When collecting my maid, I paid another $2.5K I think. All in all I paid about $4K. My maid will still be getting a minimal salary which comprise mainly the reimbursement of the off days. She will be getting her full pay only after the 8th month.

Same here. All in all I paid about $4k for my new Indo maid. Agency fee is $1288, need to pay insurance and SIP. My 1st payment was about $2500. When I picked up my maid, I paid another $1.4k. She will get $240 for 1st 8 months and after that she will get her full pay.

I thot the Indonesia govt introduce the changes so that loan period is shorten to 3-4 months for maid to enjoy the benefits? How does the current arrangement benefit the maid? Isn’t this like before? Except employer pay more now to recruiter and the papers reported these recruiters in Indonesia must be approved by the govt!!??

This is as happened repeatedly over the years- whenever any changes are introduced by either Indon (or other source country) or Sg authorities, the agents twist it such that they are the ones who benefit most. And employers get hit hard.

I'll bet that if our govt cuts out/ down the levy, it will have this same result.

Paying thru our nose for sub standard helpers is the norm these days? End of the day it appear we are the helper instead and they are the employer cos we are at their mercy or in fact everybody's mercy and have to work to our bones to pay for the high fees they command! Wat is the world coming to?! :slapshead:

POA, come to think of it quite true. All these years nothing change except maid now get weekly off but loan still the same?? Why People from Home never fight for shorter loans for these maids? Or they think its ok for maids to work for the loan period as long as they get weekly off? "Scratch head*** I don’t understand.

Old Maids developed a \"pattern\".. she has been with me for 9 years and only remembered to greet us on CNY. This Hari Raya didn't put up a smile. I didn't even bother to pass her a red packet since she went on her off that day. I told my hubby to pass her the next day. Anyway, after all that prep talk about basic respect, doing what is important, its pointless, always remember they are not related to us.. always an outsider. Their friends whom they hang out with will poison their mind.. its sad but I have gotten over it. I used to think I am blessed with a maid but I have to admit that they all go in one direction.. give them off days and she will never be the same again. But I am glad that I had stress free problems when she was taking care of kids in their toddling years. I am letting her go by Jan 14 or earlier and I am trying to stay as calm as possible to end this employee, employer relationship smoothly. She is behaving worse than a new maid, everyday day dreaming.. this morning didn't wake my dd for school, said she was busy with cleaning. Whenever I get pissed, I think of her being cleaned (already in mid 30's, divorced ) not having bf or wifi or FB, to lower my expectations in comparison with other more problematic maids. In return, I just give her the basic, one fast food meal per week, no more going out to restaurant ( like no more bonus since quality of work dropped).

I am looking forward to higher quality of life w/o a maid. Yes, I will be piled with housework in the mornings but then I do not have to feel bad if I splurge on myself with a $6 slice of cake or $40 packet organic rice openly.. maid nowadays are also smart, if you buy separate brand of bread or rice for them then how to expect them to work wholeheartedly....

Many changes. Salary is higher. Loan is shorter and weekly day off. Agent fee is higher. Only quality of maid no change. $250, 5 yr ago and $500 same quality.
