I haven't heard about the O level class. Does anyone know the details?
NYGH is introducing an O level class next year? For students at Year 3 or Year 1?blur parents:
I actually think nygh would have emphasized more on academic results in this year's dsa process. This is to ensure, as far as possible, that the girls who entered via dsa can meet their COP requirement, and be able to cope with the syllabus and work load after they enter nygh. The reality is there are quite a no. of girls who are struggling in the IP system and cannot meet the promotional criteria. For this reason, heard nygh will be re-introducing a small class for O levels next year to cater to the girls who want a different route or who know they may not be able to be promoted to HC. Nygh is doing this because they care for the girls, and have the welfare of all their students at heart. -
elkniwt, yeah heard my dd talked about it but no further details provided at this juncture.

I haven't heard about the O level class. Does anyone know the details?[/quote]Mdm Heng talked about this during a Sec 2 subject combi. briefing. It will be a small class consisting of girls who couldn't meet the promotional criteria (not sure if it's for sec 2 to 3 or sec 3 to 4 girls). Instead of transferring these girls out to different schools with different environments, it will be better to keep them in NY and prepare them for O Level. But these girls will have to compete with other O Level takers to get into HCI. I am not sure if this scheme is already finalised. Lastly, we should not be overly worried as this scheme is meant to help the girls, not penalise them.Quoting this post from the DSA 2013 thread ...

Thanks eagerdad1999. I agree to your view. I am not worried. Just interested in the details. So far, I can see that the school takes good care of the girls and also really try to help them cope.

Very happy so far.

Wah... Just saw on the Garage sale thread... some ksp newbie is selling NYGH exam papers @ $3 each !!!
So enterprising ... wonder if it's an ex-student or parent.. -
Hi, anyone’s kid takes the school bus from the East (Bedok or Tampines) ? Would like to gauge how much cost and timing. TIA

Hi
Are Sec1 parents aware of this ?
Just found out that Sec 1s were asked to \"contribute\" some money towards the Sec 4 graduation event ....
Also... recently, the girls were also asked to \"contribute\" some money towards the teachers' day celebrations !!!
For both the above \"contributions\", parents were not officially informed at all
Shouldn't the school provide full funding for such school events, instead of tapping on poor students who have to dig into their daily allowance ???
Or ... does the school expect the students to approach their parents to fork out the \"contributions\" ? :moneyflies: :moneyflies:
Even if it's just a few dollars each time, it does add up... so it's more like extortion  -
Wow! Not aware that they were asked to contribute money? Good to have this forum so that we are kept in the loop!
Another thing would be their "bonding" breakfast, either for class or CCA. They have to contribute food or pay for expensive breakfast that they order, ie >$6 for McDonalds. On top of this, have to go earlier. -
Sec 4 graduation event - monitor of the class conducted a survey asking how much the sec 1 students are willing to comtribute. the three choices stated in the survey were $3, $4 and $5. My dd hasn’t contributed any money for this event yet.
Bonding breakfast -base on hearsay one class ordered macD. In my dd’s class, her friends contributed food and my dd brought chips. No money was collected for this event from my dd’s class.
Teachers’ day celebration - no money was collected for this event from my dd’s class.
