Same for wtb. We changed to another slot and this other teacher took effort to explain all the phrases so the writing is most done at home. The previous teacher just wanted to get things done in class so did minimum explanation.

HA and Achiever classes cost the same.. Just that HA may hv only 1 or at most 2 time slots to choose from.

I find that for the amount of homework they bring home, it depends on the teachers. My child used to bring home 1 set of homework to do but when another teacher took over the class in the 2nd half of the year, everything was done in class. So I asked my child if the former teacher explained more so they had less time to complete their work vs the new teacher explain less and thus more time to do the worksheets... \"Yes lor\".

I only started the English for 3 months... So too early to tell. Will continue next year and see how it goes before deciding.
Any comments on their Writers ToolBox? I find it very expensive after the price increase though..
My gal does not appreciate their writing style though. Every few week they would hv to do a composition during the regular English class... My gal commented that they hv very very good phrases but they break everything into many many short paragraphs.. Eg one sentence in a paragraph. She cannot write that way.

Maths will hv to put on hold.. If anyone is willing to sell their notes to me... most welcome.
Writers toolbox - They use too many bombostic words but I personally like their compos. Yes I agree with the paragraphing. One line also can make one para. My DD's teacher is not so good this year. She praises whatever my DD writes. As a result, my DD does not put in much effort to improve.

They do not follow new syllabus english compo for P4 (at least for this year). I stopped in July. With the fees increase, I can look for better ones. If I can't find one, then no chioce - I will enroll in writers toolbox next year.

The success rate - really depends on the teacher and the child.

Do all schools accept paragraphing the compo the way MS is doing, ie one sentence one para? I vaguely recall my child telling me their teacher discouraged them from doing that. Any comments?

I don’t think schools allow one paragraph, one sentence. Maybe can ask the MS teacher if this is the way they encourage them to write or is there some other purpose they show them this way? Sometimes I think there is a reason but maybe our kids do not know how to explain? (sidenote, my kids are not at MS but I think most centres would not teach in this way, should be another reason it is done this way?)

                N.Lo,

I see it in the model compositions that they provide. The whole compo usually has a lot of paragraphs consisting of one sentence dialog or such.

                The fee for wtb classes are as such: P1 $139.1/149.80, P2 $149.8/$160.5, P3 $160.50/$171.2, P4 $171.2/$181.9, P5 $192.6/$203.30. P6 $203.3/$214
These are per month, weekday/weekend rates.

They actually do follow the new syllabus. My dd has benefitted from it and learnt to apply some of their writing style in her own composition. Some of the writing activities can be quite fun and gives them a good break from just writing exam topics weekly eg theft, fire. Next year will be P5 and I doubt she will have the luxury of time to do those fun writing.
