My late grandparents were gamblers so I hate poker cards. It brings bad memories. I don't think playing cards daily in the class is a good thing. It will become a habit. The children have other activities but there are pockets of free time where the children are allowed to do their own things.
no poker cards so far. this week, my dd's school has some coaches to coach the p6s on floorball. monday, they had alumni to come in to talk about career choices. yesterday, they had an educational talk on friends, friendship. like no time for frivolous games.ngl2010:
Does your DC's school allow children to play playing card (the spade/heart/diamond/club type) in school?
I forbid DS playing that kind of card but his friends are playing in the class.Today I have informed his FT that I will pull DS out from school if he plays such card. I caught him playing such game on his iPhone today. I am not letting my son learns something that can lead him to casino
playing poker cards are harmless, imo. inculcating the right values is more important than banning those cards. i play solitaire, i've learnt how to play mahjong even before i've graduated from primary school, but i was also taught what is right or wrong from young. with your guidance, i'm sure your ds will stay on the right path. :hugs:
Anyway, I will remind DS every morning that he is not allowed to play poker cards or he will stay with me at home. -
No way am I going to allow my DS to play such games. In fact, I feel that any teacher who witness such card games in class should intervene and stop it immediately.
DS has been playing boardgames like monopoly deal, Risk etc. He enjoys it so much:) The school will also be starting the post PSLE activities soon.
Folks, what do you let your DC do at home? Anything they can ‘study’ in preparation for sec 1 (without our coaching) for headstart? -
Hi all,
Need some advice. My son has been offered CO from NUSH & RI. Which school to choose?? I hav read both the schools’ threads. Still undecided. Son keen in NUSH but distance wise I prefer RI. Reason for son’s choice is that he thinks NUSHis less stressful. No "A" levels. But I believe he performs better in a stressful envt. -

Both are v gd schools... let him write up the pros and cons of each and then he decides for himself.... let him go to his dream school with an open mind...Hi all,

I think the choice is very individual. Both are very good schools. The child has to like the school he is going. Most of all, I feel it's the child's gut feel - an explainable sense of belonging when he first set foot in the school - that decides.
I would personally want to avoid situation where my child follows my choice and then regrets, be it stress, opportunities or other aspects.
Then again, this is just my personal opinion.

I don't think NUSH is less stressful than RI. It depends on how the child takes in his stride. Just let the child go to a school he is comfortable with. He will excel when he is happy.Hi all,

Did tell him to start planning to do some work. Saw him write down among reading up on science and others, to do Chinese past year papers, those he didn't do before psle :rotflmao:
