      common knowledge leh.

Really? Then I must be a bochap mom... how did you guys find out?

      Over the years?

Goodness & Kindness used to be the F & E classes until they started replacing the \"Alphabet\" names for classes with words. F&E being the best classes have been that way even 30yrs ago according to old boys!

But... I thought now changed already?

NO, I am not in PSG.. Anyway, one doesn't need to be in PSG to know such info..

When DS1 was in CHS (GEP) a few years ago, his class used to have lessons with 4-Goodness in certain subjects. 4-Goodness was split into 3 groups (GEM-1, GEM-2, GEM-3) when the boys had lessons (except Eng, Math, Sci & SS) with the GEP boys from 4-Faithfulness & 4-Gentleness. But this year, it should be 4-Charity which has intertwined lessons with the 2 GEP classes..

End of last year, the parents were informed that there would only be 1 Top class in P5. The top 40-42 boys were placed in 5-Charity, while the rest of the boys were randomly placed amongst all the other classes. Same goes for 4-Charity..

My P5 DS2 (not from 5-Charity) told me most of his classmates are quite good in Math. Hence, I say it may (or may not) be coincidental that these boys end up in the same class. In fact, the Math teacher finished the syllabus much earlier than the other classes, leaving the boys with lots of time for revision, which translated into their good Math results in the recent SA2 exam.. ๐Ÿ˜„

              Hi everyone,

              Thanks for the info.

Firefly38, my sonโ€™s overall score for Maths (P2 level) is 90 (without much guidance at home). We bought him an assessment book and asked him to practice before exam. Guess I need to work harder next year, heard P3 will be harder.

PinkKimono.. Your DS did well in Math.. Congrats ! ๐Ÿ˜„

                I recall when my DS2 joined CHS at P3, he scored only 69 for SA1.. Then he improved to 70+ in SA2.. In P4, DS2 scored 80+ for both SA1 & SA2.. This year (P5), DS2 scored 90+ for both SA1 & SA2..
All thanks to the dedicated Math teachers he has met in CHS.. ๐Ÿ•บ

                    Hi,

Just found out that my boy will be going to P3 Kindness next year. Is it still true that 3 Kindness is one of the 2 top classes?

                    Thank you.
Hi PinkKimono, my boy from 2 Charity to 3 kindness next year...might meet you in some of the activities next year...he also told me he was randomly allocated, but I remember just weeks ago he told me the teacher say there he can go to \"good\" class if he do well...come to think of it now, it could be encourage them to study hard...

DS2 got 95.. Seems like this year's paper was not as difficult as past years' papers.. Quite a number of the boys got 100..

For the first time, DS2 got an award - Best Improvement Award ! ๐Ÿ˜„

DS2's languages are in the 70s range, though..

With all these talk about class allocation, just wondering when will we know the class allocation? My DS returned home with the report book. It is not reflected in the result slip. I asked him and he said donโ€™t know. Did I miss something here?

By the way, is going into top class really important? All along I was under the impression that the school will assign the better teachers to manage the weaker classes. I donโ€™t like the idea of putting all the weak students in one class or all the good students in one class. This "pigeon-holing" encourages elitism. Granted. Some of you may say that it is easier for teachers to plan lesson and teach at the correct pace. But teachers are trained to conduct differentiated lessons within the class. So I donโ€™t see any problem here. Iโ€™m more for mixed ability classes. I always tell my DS to help his classmates because he will learn when he is helping. I think he will be stressed out if he goes into a so called top class.
