Hmmm...DS2 has only one younger cousin and the mum is quite fussy :nailbite:I think don't do P3 work unless that assessment is pegged at higher level or there's some concepts that need reinforcement.
I gave away to cousins, own family not paiseh
there are some that are ไธไธไธๅ so I just close one eye and tossed them into the bin...
What would you consider as pegged at higher level? Is Andrew Er challenging problem sums consider as one? -
I didn't buy the Andrew Er book you mentioned so can't comment on it. Subjective too, depending on each child.
I think I kept the ้ๅถChinese compre book which is hardly used. Other books worth completing would be Onsponge and Get Me Thinking.
I'd prefer to move on personally. I think if I'm a kid, I'd feel sian. It's like a 'have not moved on' feeling.

If your child is quite familiar with the concepts then what is the need to do?

I understand the \"bad\" feeling we get for wasting books, but look at it this way. Just doing for the sake of completing the book could only mean wasting time on it, no?
If you think the two month break is too long a break, target some ( <10) questions every week. Andrew Er challenging problem sums are of quite good general standard , I feel, to keep in touch. -
happyheart , you are lucky that your DS will do assessment books in hols. My DS would just be horrified if I asked him to. To him, it is atrocious to even suggest it :slapshead:

Actually, I have thrown away some incompleted assessment books. Just that, there is no full stop in learning, when the school zipped through the topics quickly with just a few pages of review. Hence, the questions of reinforcing this year's work by finishing what is left undone for assessment ( of course not 100%) before moving on to P4 assessment.

Agree..Get me Thinking is a keeper. I do not have onsponge...Phew!I didn't buy the Andrew Er book you mentioned so can't comment on it. Subjective too, depending on each child.

Haha...my DS2 is a bit Kiasu type. He will want to do it as long as I gently suggest to him. But he is like any 9 years old, will have his moments of 'eating snakes' when he feels like it. -
My dd2 is dropping English tuition. She said she wants to self study.
So Iโve asked dd1 coach her -

Moving on, I am sure we have some P3 assessment books done ranging from 10%-40%. Do you start your kids with P4 assessment or let them finish the incomplete P3's books? I feel paiseh to donate or sell as they are not guide books but actual questions that have been worked on. It is also wasteful to discard. Your views?
Those 5% done or almost brand new I gave to my friend's going p2 dd.
I pass her all the gep resources (IQ books, brain teasers etc) too.
Textbooks gave to ntuc.
The rest (old books since dd1's era but I kept for dd2) I've already dropped off at recycling bin. No one else to give to le.
I don't sell books, too troublesome to deal and transport -

My dd2 would do a couple of pages whenever dd1 is coaching her, just to confirm she grasped the concept. But nothing massive. She won't ever do an entire assessment book. She would read assessment books though
I have not bought any new assessment books in years. dd2 is still using dd1's outdated assessment books (also hardly done). I refrained from buying too many since most likely end up in the bin anyway, waste money
