Considering this school for ds. Pls advise:

      - how was the o levels result last year?
      - what’s the percentage of students qualifying for JC last year?

      TIA!

Hi, my son is in Sec 2 this year. Not too bad for a sch which is not autonomous. COP same as Yishun Town wich is autonomous, that’s quite interesting since it is not even autonomous yet but has same COP as Yishun Town already. Heard although Chung Cheng Yishun is not SAP sch like the other Chung Cheng in Katong, it’s COP is also only 4 pts away from the SAP sch - so I am glad I sent my s to Chung Cheng Yishun. Emphasis is on studies and CCAs. Understand from my son Chung Cheng Yishun has many good CCAs which won many awards in SYF - 6 Distinctions out of 8 CCAs won in this yr’s SYF. Agree initially had some issues with the buttons but guessed we adapted. Not an issue as my son puts on the buttons diligently without our help anymore.

New team of school leaders - I know the P was the VP for 2 yrs taking over from the previous P who retired. 2 VPs with one from NYJC & another one from Xinmin.
My son said the P & VPs walking around sch daily & very firm on discipline yet quite approachable.
There was an Open House at Chung Cheng Yishun on Sat. If you missed it, maybe can go to the sch on Mon to talk to the staff?
All the best to your selection of Schs - I know how tough it can be. Been there.

Forgot to mention, Chung Cheng Yishun does not have a quota system when offering A Math & Pure Sciences from 2013 onwards. Heard it is because the Principal said it is more important to get students to have an edge if they can handle the subjects rather than to just think of getting excellent sch results by limiting number of students allowed to study A Math or Pure Sciences.

This is quite different from Yishun Town & Ahmad Ibrahim Sec.
I am quite delighted and grateful for such a forward-looking gesture.
At least I know Chung Cheng Yishun is always thinking of her students’ future first.
Important pt for parents to consider rather than to wait until 2 yrs later and ask for transfer.

How about the distance from CCHS to Khatib MRT? What if it rains heavily? Any short cut?

It takes just 10 min to walk from Khatib MRT station to the back-gate of Chung Cheng Yishun. Back gate is opened in the morning so that staff and students have tw entrances to the school in the morning. They can also leave from the back-gate in the late afternoon as it can be self-opened by those who are in the school (although for safety reasons gate cannot be opened for outside in the afternoon.

It’s sheltered from MRT station to under the MRT track to covered Overhead Brisge and then HDB blocks to the school.
