Hihi! Few questions...

* Wonder how is the focus on Chinese language in the school as compared to schools like Chung cheng high?
* And anyone staying north as in towns like amk? And how r u coping w the daily traveling to n for school?
* Roughly how long u get to reach school n via which route?
* Am I rite to say from mrt to orchard n then bus 111 is the shortest route for the travel?
* Also, what time does the bell rings? My fear is gal receiving demerit points for being late.. -

Sharing from the perspective from a P6 parent as my dd is also gg to CGS next year so we've done some homework. Also, as a parent, initially I do share some of the considerations as well.
Think we cannot compare the CL focus to a SAP sec school. I suppose there will always be difference as SAP schools are generally alot richer in chinese culture. My dd is also in a SAP pri but having had 6 years of that culture immersion, we don't mind a different exposure. Crescent does appear to be more of a english focus school (bearing in mind there are other races in the school). But if the girls could share more, that would be good.
For travel, the observation is that train followed by 111 is definitely faster. Maybe you can gauge based on the following :
* Home to MRT
* MRT from AMK to orchard - should not be far i suppose as they are on the same line
* Orchart MRT to 111 bus stop - 5 mins walk
* Waiting time for bus - this is dependent on whether it's peak/ off peak, etc... Existing students might want to shed some light on morning situation
* Bus to bus stop right outside CGS - 15 mins
* Walk to school 2 mins
From our place in North east area, it is 1 hour point to point. But we use the NE line to plaza singapura. Note there there are other private bus service in the morning that sort of cater to NE students. You can PM me for contact.
Think assembly starts at 7.20am. So must target to reach by latest 7.10am latest ? -
Pm u, MMM.

Crescent focuses on all subjects equally, including Mother Tongue and the teachers in each dept are equally dedicated in teaching their subjects. The bell rings at 7.30am. After 7.30am, 1 demerit. After 8am, 2 demerits. On rainy days, after 7.35am, 1 demerit. Assembly starts 7.25am-7.30am usually.Hihi! Few questions...

singaporekid,
So if dd reaches by 7.20am at the guard house, she is still fine??? -
MMM:
Crescent uses electronic attendance taking called the iOK system. In Sec 1, students will have their fingerprints taken and it will be recorded in the system so every morning, students have to go to any of the iOK stations, located around the school near all the entrances, to sign in. As long as she signs in before 7.30am, her attendance on the teacher's phone will show that she is present. Else, it will be recorded as late. There will be a disciplinary briefing for students yearly which explains more regarding this matter. Crescent also uses fingerprints to unlock classrooms and any other rooms to ensure security. Only selected students within the class, such as class chairperson and vice chairperson, and of course all the teachers will be able to unlock the classroom door.singaporekid_:

We tried walking from redhill mrt to CGS, very far. If want to take bus, must walk almost half the distance to the bus stop. Then might as well walk all the way to school. So I find it quite inaccessible, as there are many condos there so canβt cut thru unlike HDB voiddecks.

There is another Gate(for parents who drive their kids) which is opens on Road behind the school. That gate can be used by walk-in kids as well. Route to the gate is
-take a walkway( in between Metro Condo & SKY condo) from Red-hill MRT turning to left as you exit station.
- Take overhead bridge to cross over the Alexzandra road.
-walk after till Tanglin view condo ends towards south
- turn left to lead to road/gate.
I am not sure which route you tried... the main one, crossing traffic lights at 4 cross road is definitely longer -

we took the overhead bridge at redhill then took the right stairs down then turn left and followed the pavement. passed by the park connector. We saw the school but it was not the main gate - it's the gate leading to the sports field /stadium? Can we use the park connector? Is it nearer to the main gate?Verysuperkiasu:
