Not all were 250+, some were from DSA. There are many factors to not doing well. I've seen 2 cases of 270+ went to RI and dropped out in JC. Some did so well in their O level but retained in JC1.

I think this really shows that PSLE is by no means an indicator of how successful students will be in the future..

Some students, especially the GEP students, enter ACS(I) by just taking the school's high-ability selection test. Often their psle scores end up being lower than those who enter the 6-yr IP thru S1 posting. I wonder how these students end up doing in the programme?

I'm thinking that since these students manage to do well in a test that they cannot prepare for, unlike PSLE, their learning & thinking approach & foundation might be broader & stronger and they might actually be more suited to such programmes?

Hi, anyone heard about year 3 next year, no more subject combi selections ? Seems that they have to take all subjects, wonder if the rumours is true because I have not received any notification. Then I am thinking, how about the bicultural class students, need to take all subjects too ? :?

Asked my DD, she has no idea.

Seems like alot of chinese homework. Out of proportion compared to other subjects.

Hi justsay, yes indeed a lot of chinese homework, dd now also has a lot compare to last year. In fact her teacher told them more to come because there are many things to cover. I guess SAP schools are like that? Basically now, for year1 science is simply studying how scientists work. After that when they start phy/chem/bio more worksheets to come. Lang arts, it would be incorporated into drama later.

RVPTA’s membership is $50 for the entire 6 years your child stay in RV. Both parents are members as long as one parent signs up. PTA activities are updated at RVHS website, so you can read all about it there. RVPTA AGM was held yesterday, and letter was handed out to students, meant for their parents, prior to the meeting for attendance. Teachers’ Day dinner is NOT organised by PTA, but by SAC. PTA supports this annual event. Upcoming talks on Parenting will be on SAt, 6 March. Ask your child for the form which will be handed out by their form teachers this coming week.

Ex-RVHS student myself and just chanced upon this thread

Here's my take on why there are more girls than boys - 'cos RVHS boys have to continue to wear shorts still in Sec 3 & 4

& I chose RV over NYGH then 'cos I prefer RV school uniforms. Hahahaha ...

Honestly, after that, I did regret a little 'cos the uniform material was thick then and require frequent ironing (by myself). However, I had noticed that they had change to a much thinner & cooler now - so all's good.

My strong Chinese foundation and interest was from RVHS !
i dont see why that should be a problem, shorts look and feel better and is easier to move around in.in fact rv boy's uniform is more outstanding than the girls' and the trend shouldve been opposite.the rv uniform for boys really look darn cool

I heard it is quite confirm abt the 2 CCAs & it would be 4 days of CCA per week. Seems its starting with the year 1 of 2010. I personally feel that 4 days is too much. The kids have other activities outside school, its going to be very tiring for them to cope.

Yes it is confirmed. They brought the form back yesterday. I feel that it is too much for the kids too. If I'm not wrong, some CCA need to go for 3 days, which means they would be spending 5 days for CCAs. The kids would be too tired. How about other program, 3rd language, homework etc ... ? Not feasible I find.

its not 2 ccas. the form said 1 core cca and 1 interest development activity. called up to clarify too.

idp not as regular as core cca.

additional info that i found out: if child is selected for school team in niche sports, then it can be considered core cca. and school team no need to take up additional idp 🙂
