Nanyang Girls' High School [*IP]

Hi to all! I am a newbie to the forum.
DD is going to Sec 1. She is quite interested in modern dance CCA. However, I am worried about whether it will be manageable for her:
1.\tModern dance requires 3 times a week (2:30 ā 5:30pm) regular training time. What about additional training time before competitions/performances in public? Anyone has idea?
2.\tI heard NYGH has a lot of homework. Is that true? How many hours do NYGH students spend on daily homework usually?
3.\tHer traveling time to NYGH is 50 min. for one way. Tried to find carpooling, but it seems not easy :<
Would appreciate if someone could give me some advices. Thanks in advance. -
BP2013:
Anyone know if NYGH class distribution for Sec1 is based on T-Scores or otherwise?? Thanks.
The class distribution is random and not by T-Score. There are a few special classes like for HMP, AEP and GEPers, as well as a class for high-scorers. The rest are all random. -

Not a lot. Seems quite manageable. Still have time to watch TV and sleep at 10plus. But there are some peaks, like just before due-date of graded assignments, SIAs (there's some changes to SIA btw) when she has to work longer hrs.

Hi, DD is entering Sec 1 next year. I have questions abt text books to buy. Based on experience from my elder kids (from other IP school), teachers may not use all books listed on book list, (esp for maths and science) even if they are not marked as optional items on the list.
May I know the situation in NYGH? :scratchhead: DD is from GEP, if it makes a diff (for GEP-in tact class).
I am thinking of buying the language text books and lit books, both English and Chinese, Geog, history, skipping math text book. Does it makes sense?
Also, on the book list, there are 3 choices for science text book - print, 2-year subscription digital version and also 4 years subscription. Seems a no brainer to me as the print copy seems the obvious choice, cheaper too. Am I missing something? Thks. -
