yeap I do ..what about making donations to the school ??
I think you could try making a donation to the school..not 1k or 10 k..100k might just do the trick! -

Have to agree with you. The older kids are rough and they might terrorise the younger ones..Btw, there is a rifle range in ACSJ but they are converting it to a TABLE TENNIS room instead! =/[Moderator's Note: Topics merged.]
Spoke 2 many ACS parents. They said Acs Junior results definitely better compared to Primary. ACS Junior has Primary children only. But ACS Primary BarKer share with Secondary as well. I prefer all primary instead.. don't need to share tuckshop with Secondary school.
I also understand new ACS Junior is 3 times bigger compared to current school. They even have a Performing Art Centre! Impressive! I got the source from School.
Not only that, ACS J will even have a rifle range. Only one in singapore! This is what I call 'branded school' Haha! Both schools are just as difficult to get in. -
Can someone verify if this is true??
2bbtang:
Correct me if I'm wrong... As long as you are a member of any methodist Church, you can opt for any Methodist Primary School under Phase 2B. But of course, you have to choose school that is near to your house for higher chance of getting in.koppie:
Hi,
Can someone tell me which methodist church ACSP and ACSJ are affiliated with? BRMC or any methodist church?
Thanks
There are about 6 to 7 Methodist Primary School that you can opt for...
1) ACS Pri
2) ACS Jnr
3) Fairfield Methodist
4) Methodist Girls' School
5) Geylang Methodist Primary School
6) Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School
... cannot remember the other few...anyone? -
I think the best thing I can do right now is to get my hubby to rent a condo near the school and apply under Phase 2C. I think that will help.
Anyways, anyone living near there ,can suggest to me what are the condos there ..thanks

chixchix, it is illegal to rent a condo to use its address for Primary One registration without any intention to actually stay there, so I hope that is not what you have in mind. The penalties are quite severe.I think the best thing I can do right now is to get my hubby to rent a condo near the school and apply under Phase 2C. I think that will help.

this is like deja vu...In the late 70s, my dad wanted me in de la salle, for no particular reason except that he was from st pats. We were not very well off and we lived in a room in my uncle's 5-room flat. My mom, who was from tkgs, insisted on bringing me down to coleman street to register at ACPS. It developed into an almighty argument but of course she won, especially as my dad was probably too lazy to bring me down to either school to register.2bbtang:
...Couldn't sleep the whole of last night!!! THis is worst than any exams or interviews or even any presentation that I have in my life!!! Ha! Ha! Some parents was sharing that when you heard your child name been called out, the feeling is even better than winning a lottery!!! Although I have never nor do I bet on any gambling... but the feeling of knowing that I have secured a seat for my boy is Really overwhelming!...
Did you bring your kid along for the balloting? You should.
I've never won any lottery in my life, and I say I no longer need to anymore, because I won the most important lottery in my life when I was 6 years old.
I come from a not-so-well-off working class family, and my father and mother were both uneducated and clueless about schooling other than to send us to neighborhood schools in the MacPherson area. As a pre-school kid, I was lazy and unmotivated... failed all my exams in the PAP kindy and ended up last in class... not that I cared then.
Somehow, my mother got wind of an opportunity to send me to St. Andrew's Junior for P1. It was one of the top schools in the nation in the early 70s. So she packed me off one day and we made a trip down for the registration. Being a hot school, it was already the last stage of the registration exercise and they have to ballot because about 50 odd people were vying for only about 20 vacancies. The school hall was packed with people and the atmosphere heavy with anticipation. My mother's hand tightened around mine each time the name on the selected ticket was read, and loosened in disappointment when it wasn't mine. It went on and on for 19 times.
Mine was the last name to be called. I looked up and for the first time in my life, I saw tears streaming down my mother's face. It was at that moment that I finally realized how important this was to her and how much she loved me to go through all the trouble of getting through the system just to get me into that school. It was the turning point for me. I suddenly had a purpose in life, and that is to make the best use of this hard-won opportunity and to make my mother's effort all worthwhile. Throughout my life, whenever I have to do a major exam, project or presentation, I always recall this particular moment in my life and understand why I'm doing what I have to do. It was to make my mother proud of me.
Off we went to the old auditorium, which is still standing, to register. As expected, even though this was abt 30 years ago and even as there were 350+ places for primary 1, balloting had to be conducted. Of course, i was one of the last few to be selected.
Then, I wondered what the fuss was about. Had no idea about the importance of choosing the right school. Now, after 12 years of ACS 'indoctrination' (ACPS-ACS-ACJC), I am doing relatively well in my career, as a typical ACS boy should. I am really grateful for my mom's preserverance, as is my sister, who entered MGS through a now discontinued priority entry scheme for siblings entering methodist schools.
So now, i will continue and pass my mum's legacy down to my son, to ensure that he has that necessary head start in life. -
oh yes…forgot to add the kiasu part…i’m about to pay $500 to join in the OBA, which i understand will get me into an earlier sub-phase of 2A…should have joined when I was 18, at $50.

I think most Primary school principals and vice principals are very approachable and only a phone call away. Just call and talk to them directly.
