their maths is gd- as they set really gd worksheets. afterall, 50% of the hefty tuition fees paid is for their worksheets.

hmm. they have tough & challenging questions that one will not be able to find in an assessment bk. this is because they have a gd database- they collect questions from GEP assessment papers which you will not be able to buy outside. they are able to train students in specific strategies to use for certain type of questions..and I found that very useful in my exams.

Personally, I feel a service that can make an underachieving student become a top student deserves much more respect than a service that promises to make already good students into top students. What's the glory or challenge of making GEP students into superkids? And their results would be self-fulfilling.

I, for one, would love to see a service give entry tests to potential customers and only the worst would qualify for the class. The rationale is that if you are already good, why do you need the class?

Then again, idealism doesn't make good business sense these days.

I second that. Unfortunately, tuition centres are Profit driven - sometimes, it’s just so hard to get a good tuition teacher who sincerely goes out to help her students…

I have not sent my son for tuition yet and hope that I never will. I believe in reading, reading and more reading. My son started reading at 4. I used to read together with him. He really enjoys. I didn’t drill him with assessments. I found that as his English improves, his confidence increases and his school works get better.

If my boy (P5) is scoring 95+ for his Maths, 89+ for Science, 80+ for English & 75+ for Chinese. He only has chinese tutition, he is taking PSLE next year should I sent him for other tutition too? He is in Ai Ting School.

Hi Sally, my girl just graduated from Ai Tong this year. From your son's score, he is better than my girl when she was in P5. In P6, the teachers would organise remedial and recommend school enrichment (on Sat) for those weak students. So not to worry too much lor. When come to exam, there are many X-factors to be considered. How nervous the child is, what kind of mood he is having, examiners who mark the paper, the overall national standard of that year ...

They have meet the parents session somewhere in March (I hope I remember clearly). This is important and make use of this opportunity to ask the teacher's advice on your child's potential and progress and if he needs extra help, where and how to improve. The teachers can give very good advices (from my own experience). In fact you should get the feedback from teachers in P5 meet parents session to plan how to help your child to cope P6 life.

I am still a strong believer of no tuition, good motivation and active learning attitute.

Thank for the advise. I have the same believe as you. But surprising all the while my hubby is the relax one and due to the impression he got from his collegue which daughter is P6 in year. He became very kiasu and for once he ask my boy to go for English Enrichment class. My boy is so good that he agreed and fortunely his enjoy e 1st lesson and look forward to go.

I hope your girl did well in her PSLE. From the web I notice that Ai Tong didn’t really do well this year.
