I think to the psychologist’s point of view, siblings see each other everyday and can adjust to each other’s quirks, just like older children are more willing to give in to a younger child, so not counted as meaningful social interaction.

I get both sides of the view. If my darling cannot due to his condition, I should not be too upset as sometimes even an NT child may not have the flair for public performance. But if the school teacher is supportive and my darling has the ability, then I should be happy and proud.

I think I am still trying to adjust my expectations of my son up to now. School feedback still affect me but not so much nowadays. I pray I will be strong enough to accept what I cannot change in time to come so that I can be a little happier than now.

How long did you wait for acceptance? Mine was really fast even though I was told the waiting time could be 12-18months. Caught me off guard when received acceptance letter cos we r staying in the east so logistic wise also quite inconvenient

I think you are really lucky because my friend’s kid really waited more than 1 year to get into ARC! Just started recently and the boy settled down fast and is learning things also as the eipic system in place in ARC is very very structured and her son took well to it.

I am starting my son in a new per-school that is a good 20mins drive away (assuming no traffic jam!). Initially wasn’t even in my search radar as I felt traveling time was long but as their program suited my son’s OT needs so decided to try and got accepted. Good luck to both our sons in their new environment!

I waited approx 6 months. During the evaluation, someone said 12-18 months so I too was caught by surprise. I was offered the 12pm slot on 4 days. Just can't make the time even though I stay 15 mins away. Both my missus and me work. They should provide transport arrangement but who am I to complain? They insist parents, not helpers, must fetch and sit in. True for you?

Big decision bec ARC offers direct access to Pathlight. I am told Pathlight uses the same evaluation team as ARC so the paperwork gets sorted first.

I believe ARC picks and chooses. If you meet their criteria, the offer will come quick. If your child is on the more severe end of the spectrum, they will fill up the slots first and then call upon their \"B listers\".

They work on the basis that your child should not disrupt classes (I hope I am wrong). I can understand their logic but it is a very unfair system bec the next question becomes What if your child is severely autistic? Who can you turn to? This is the question our society has not answered yet.
