      This is timely! 🙂

thank you. I just mooted the idea of shifting places to increase my chances of getting into MBS.
We are currently 1-2km to MBS and with the school having no PV, and the chance of Phase 2B being v remote, i thought it may make sense to move.

Just shared with a good friend and we both sighed.

We circled MBS tonight and i realised the traffic is really quite bad. There is supposed to be a Student care near the school but i am wondering who will bring the children to the student care? Decisions....

Consider Northland Pri. Good school, better than Chongfu.

        Hi sembgal,

Would you mind sharing why you think Northland is better than Chongfu? I always thought the general notion is Chongfu is the best school in Yishun.

ya, just curious why is Northland is better than Chongfu? i have a 2010 girl, hubby old school is northland, but i'm contemplating to put her in Chongfu, which means i need to do volunteer.

Northland is another better alternative for children who needs a balance in academic, character building and leadership. Chongfu School has changed principal, think last year change, and the previous principal was better.

It is up to parents to decide if they want Chongfu or not at the end of the day if the brand name matters more to parents. But remember, be prepared to send your child for enrichment or groom your child academically advanced before your child go Chongfu.

Parents will know if their children are academically inclined or not. If in their heart, they know their children are not academically inclined, don't stress the child. One of my friend's child attended MPM enrichment and has to attend Chongfu Math remedial. The Math standard in Chongfu must be very high.

            Extract from TNS website

. How can I apply as a Parent Volunteer to Tao Nan School?
The school no longer has a Parent Volunteer Scheme for child born from
            2010 onwards.

              thanks sembgal
ya i heard the standard of CF has dropped and northland’s current principal is good. im thinking more of exposing her to more chinese culture rather than branding of the school

seems like the trend is to scrap the PV scheme in the top schools. So what will KS parents do?

Once Popular schools remove Parent Volunteer scheme :-
Parents can still turn to GRC (Phase 2B) route.

                  Example
Tao Nan primary had announced removal of PV scheme, for kids born 2010 (year of Tiger) onwards.

GRC road : is still available.
But, GRC also tightening her requirements.

Changes take effect for 2017 P1 batch (ie, kids born 2010) :-

                      Checking in to this thread.

                      I have a 2010 boy and 2012 girl.

Definitely need a co-ed school. Dun think I want to stress for my dragon year born girl.

                      No affiliation.

Honestly, I hate the idea of PV. Cos no guarantee and have wasted parents time.

I am prepare to move within 1km of a good school.

Hope to learn more from everyone here.
