So I assume I should also just take the 2nd day leave (15th July) to standby and register too for Phase 2A(2)? And leave the first day to monitor the situation if there will be high chance of balloting for 1-2KM in Phase 2A2! Gosh, I really can feel the heat now!

Yes, take leave on 2nd day of Phase 2A2.

first day of 2A2 : nothing much.
Those staying within 1 km are confident, so normally they tend to enrol first.
Same apply to those within (1 to 2 km).
Usually those > 2 km tend to hold back, wait until Day 2, then wait and see first, before decide what to do.

Parents just monitoring number, on Day 1.
Day 1 : very little withdrawal.
Day 2 : more activity, after 3 pm. (ESP. Last 1.5 hrs)

Do we need to print out from OneMap to prove to school we are within 1km on the day of registration? Or the school will verify via their system when they key in our application?

No, you don't need to. The school has the addresses to tell the staff if your house is within 1km.

              Yes, school will check.

              On Registration day :-
Every parent will get a queue number, and wait.
Because many parents walking into school, to register too.
They'll direct you to a room, sit down, wait.

They will call out the queue number, one by one.
When your turn come, you pass the stack of your child's documents, to the Registration officer.
This Officer will verify parents' IC, plus all documents.
Any doubts or queries - the Officer will ask parents, on the spot.
Eg : why 2 parents' IC address, are different.

For Phase 2A1 parents : arrange for your alumni Head in charge, to print out the alumni letter for you.
You need this important letter, to prove to the Registration officer.

For Phase 2A2 parents : bring your report card, as evidence that you were an ex-student before.

For Phase 2B Parent Volunteer : bring that letter, that certify you had clocked x number of hours completed, in your school.

After Registration Officer finish verification, she will pass this stack of documents, over to another admin staff in charge of keying in / punching data rapidly into school computer.
All data at close of Registration after 4.30 pm to around 6.30 pm (long, busy days), will be uploaded into MOE central database, for daily update, centralized control monitoring purpose.
Because MOE have to consolidate data.
Around 8 pm to 9 pm, MOE have to put up on her website :-
the number of Applications received for that day, for all primary schools in Sg.

This admin staff who took that stack of documents from the Registration officer -
Will verify the address : falling with which distance range ?
(In case some parents try to cheat.
Eg: fall within 1 to 2 km, say that they fall within 1 km, instead)

              Once everything been completed :-
This admin lady will inform parents that their Registration has been successful.
she'll then give parents a Registration number, of their child enrollment.
              In future (for reference) -
parents just need to quote this Registration Number, issued by the school.
Thus, there is no letter from MOE whatsoever, notifying parents that their enrolment is successful.
This Registration number, issued by the school, indicate that your child's enrolment, has been successful.

This admin lady will also inform parents by when, parents can expect an official letter issued by the school, to be sent to their house (according to the address, provided during Registration), by normal postage.
Not via email, but by normal postage, delivered by postman, into your letter box.

Tks phtthp for the details of registering.

What if last min withdraw of the school and register in another school? Will it take long time for the school to do it in these 2 process? Both parents need to be present in both cases? Tks!

                  Hi,

Can i use my new home address to apply for the school within 1KM? I will only collect my keys in Dec 2014. Will the school accept my new home address or will they still refer to the address in my NRIC?

I think this year harder to assess and make last minute decisions on the school since there is online registration option for ALL schools, where parents can submit their applications on the last day 5-10mins before system closing time… so even if we hover around schools physically also not as effective as previous years… am i right?

                      Stress level goes up…

online registration open 1day earlier and closed 1day earlier than the onsite registration...
