May not be related, but actually the Admin manager sends a Calendar of Event for the Semester 1. We receive it on the 21st Jan. That would give a good guide of the various important dates, so if you have missed it perhaps you can check if the school has your email.Hi mummies, is it normal not to acknowledge the Semesters Examination 2014? My girl has been holding onto this form since 4 Apr and did not give it to me until today. When I question her why didn't she return the slip to teacher, she said, Teacher say no need, which the teacher also did not ask for it.
I am expecting an email notification and form for parent to acknowledge. Only when I casually ask my girl about her exam dates, she then tell me the form is with her for LONG LONG TIME!!! -

Yes, I did received the email from school early part of the year on the schedule which is only a rough estimation of those exam dates. That's is why I am expecting the exact form/email as to the dates for each subjects.

Never know is a new practice that acknowledgment slip is not compulsory now! -

Hi,Need to look at number of places left at end of Phase 2B, for this year.
must see how many (PV + GRC) enrol this year, under Phase 2B.
in the past (up to 2012), we used to take in many PV.
But last year (2013), we started to reduce the intake of PV, by half.
GRC we can't control, but PV we can control the number we want.
Thus resulted in more vacancies available, for Phase 2C.
if you compare # registered in 2012 vs 2013 under Phase 2B, you can see the difference :-
http://www.rafflesgirlspri.moe.edu.sg/e ... statistics
Since you stay less than 1 km from both (RGPS + NYPS) -
balloting for Nanyang is far more risky, at Phase 2C.
pick the school that is of lesser risk.
Secure that school that is bound to accept your dd, within 1 km.
Can I understand if the number of PV applicants remains the same for both 2012 and 2013 or was there a drop in the number of applicants for 2013? Is this information available?
Also, is the cut in the number of PV places to 20 something the school likely to continue for 2014? -
In which year will rgps become single session? I recall reading somewhere all pri sch will be single session in a few years’ time…
-
Number of PV selected will be kept small, max 20 -
Regardles of how many PV applications pour in, maintain around 20 at most.
No more 40+, in the past.
The Past is over.
Going forward into the future, with this "40 seats put aside" (for both Phase 2B + 2C : cannot touch ):-
If one day arise a situation whereby Phase 2A in RGPS need to ballot, we need to keep this PV size small & manageable.
20 is a small number, to control.
At the moment, 2A no need to ballot.
But 10, 20 years down the road, we won’t know.
2016 -
All primary schools turn Single session.
2016 January (school re-open) -
All RGPS girls report at Hillcrest road.
Mount Sinai then become memory, of the past.
No more eating at Ghim Moh market hawker centre.
This year (2015 P1, 2008 born) intake : shd be same as last year, 270 pupils.
Next year (2009 born) : not decided yet.
Because 2009 born will be for 2016 P1 admission -
That year we turn single session.
2016 onwards : No more afternoon sesssion for P1/P2, anymore.
Need a lot of classroom, to accommodate every pupil, from 2016 (P1 to P6). -
Does the renovation/rebuilding at hillcrest include plans for more classrooms in anticipation of 2016 single sessions? So that pri one intake for those born in 2009 will not be badly affected by reduced intake
-
Ha ha, the taffic has improved on both sides at bukit timah. I can drive tru hillcrest peacefully now. No more long Qs along the road and need not enter by watten to try beat the jam… actually its kind of quiet in the evenings. Now hubby does not hv to leave home 10 mins earlier in the morming.
Anyway looks like they just started work recently, think early this month. I do hope they include another entrance for cars to enter else its going to be "all hell break loose " with an estimate of 600 more students in the morning session. -
Pupils from National Junior college (located behind RGPS school premises) can enjoy remaining 1.5 years (from now till end of 2015) of traffic bliss.

Come January 2016 :-
Back to square 1 : traffic woe during peak hour.
Worse, because another 600 students (from 2016 P1 + P2), during morning peak hour.
Unless students take new Tan Kah Kee MRT station (Downtown line), walk across to school faster.
Tan Kah Kee MRT station much more convenient, compared to Botanic Garden MRT station.
Tan Kah Kee -
Can walk across to RGPS + NJC.
Not only do we need more classroom -
we also need more facilities, to accommodate & occupy the girls in the afternoon, after school.
The girls don’t go home straight directly so fast, after classes end.
Will plan new programme, to occupy them.
Recess time inside the canteen :-
we also need more food stalls, plus definitely need more benches, to let all the girls have space to sit down & eat their food.
current P4 girls (born 2004: year of Monkey) -
Will shift back here enjoy new school facilities for one remaining last year, before sit for PSLE 2016. -
Yes, the traffic could be worse when the school operates single session in 2016.
I hope the school can come out with an innovative way to ease the traffic during peak period else it could be quite frustrating for both parents and the resident there.
For years i have been wondering why the school didn't want to partial convert NJC Dr to allow vehicles go in from Dunearn Rd only during peak period and open the gate next to Hillcrest Villa for exit. I think it will at least ease the deadlock situation especially when the school buses coming out from NJC Dr and cars along the left lane of Dunearn Rd turning into Hillcrest Rd. -
New MRT probably will have stations on the opposite (Dunearn) side as well, as for most other MRTs. I’m hoping it is in time for 2016.
